Bell X-1 sonic boom. by
Ed Majden
I was watching a program on the Canadian Discovery Channel on the
American Rocket Program, in particular, when the Bell X-1 broke the "so
called" sound barrier in 1947. It stated that ground crews were startled by
the "first ever" sonic boom. The first ever perhaps, produced by a manned
aircraft,...

Belly Landing by
Emilio
Take a look at this 737 belly landing video clips.
http://radioscanning.wox.org/Scanner/Sounds/video/737gear.mpeg
On a first sequence it appears the pilot is trying to get the gear unjammed
by bouncing the aircraft on the good landing gear. The second sequence
shows the actual landing. But I am...

veteran, better known as the longtime publisher of Armed Forces
Journal (later Armed Forces Journal International) until his
retirement in 1992. He was also the...

Best Apache video EVER... by
Jeb Hoge
Imagine an AH-64 Longbow dogfighting with a Lotus.
Imagine no longer.

I hope this doesn't kill his bandwidth, but it's possibly the coolest
Apache footage ever taken.

Best dogfight gun? by
Bjørnar Bolsøy
It takes time to wind up and has a small projectile, so how does
the M61 really stack up against, say, the BK27 og Giat 30mm as
far as dogfighting is concerned? Even with the PGU28?
Is shot density the primary factor to look at?
Regards...

best mil+aviation writers? by
Hannibal
There are several good books around . I read one a few years ago
called Viper about an F-16 pilot in the Gulf war (first one).
Another great book was IIRC "Danger" or something like that. It was a
compilation of many accounts from Approach magazine.
There was another such book made by the company...

best mil+aviation writers? by
Cub Driver
If you were going to name a couple of the greatest writers about
military aviation, who would they be?
I want personal recollections, not history. I'd like names that large
numbers of people would recognize.
Antoine de St Exupery? (Can't stand him, personally, but he seems
beloved)
Ernest Gahn?...

- Historic value (rare and interesting aircraft)
- Reasonably easy to fly
- No turbines and under 12,500 lbs (no type rating needed)
- Seats two
- Aerobatic
- Easy on the eyes
