Would this plane have flown? by
Robert M. Gary
http://www.thegaryhouse.com/aircraftdamage/
I was down in a remote area of Mexico this last weekend and a truck
backed into my aileron. I was lucky that the driver had a sat phone and
I was able to call an A&P to come down to Mexico and swap it for me.
However, all the local pilots, and the A&P...

Would like to talk with an insurance underwriter..... by
[email protected]
Are there any aviation insurance underwriters on the group?
I'd like to understand better the factors that go into insuring a
customer.
For example, I put in a claim for damages which occured during
training, when I was not the PIC. I'd like to understand if the
insurance underwriter is looking...

WOT in cruise? by
Roger Long
I was always taught that WOT was a "renter's setting" and that you should
back off to 2300-2400 if you want to get good life out of your engine. I
keep running across the Advanced Pilot Seminar guys asking, "Why EVER be
partial throttle in cruise?
Of course, they are probably also talking about...

worn injector? by
[email protected]
I've had trouble getting my IO360 to run lean lately - Cylinder 4 EGT
runs a coolest when rich, but when I lean, #4 peaks a LOT later than
the other 3, and at much higher EGT (1500+ compared with 1400+ on the
others. I'm just wondering whether the orifice on #4 could be worn and
now just running...

Working with plexiglass in winter by
Ben Jackson
I'd like to replace my side windows this winter. Will working with
plexiglass be substantially harder with temps in the 30-40F range?
Will the adhesives cure or will I need to heat the hangar?

Withstanding Peak Temperatures by
O. Sami Saydjari
OK. I have a basic question. Why is running an engine at peak
temperature (as in Rich-of-Peak operation) not good for the engine? In
the scheme of things 50-100 degress cooler than peak temperature (where
many folks recommend the engine be run) does not seem significantly
lower in temperature...

Hello all,
Our aircraft (Ms 893E) is wired with one VHF comm (old Narco 11A - but

wiping snow off by

For a standard trainer type airplane does anyone (who owns one not used
for training) go out to the airport when not flying just to wipe the
snow off? Does the weight of snow and/or ice damage surfaces, etc?

Winterizing The Hangar by
Jay Honeck
As some of you know, our hangar building was rammed by a semi-truck
this past August, during the repaving of our taxiway. Fairly extensive
damage was done to one corner of the building, but we were able to keep
the plane inside, thanks to the guy only hitting our "kitchen" area.
(No beer was...

Winter in Michigan by
Roger
A couple days ago I went out to the airport, wrapped up the front end
of the Deb with a two layer blanket, fired up the Tannins Heater and
figured I'd change the oil the next day.
Welll... as things go, that was the day it snowed, and snowed, and
snowed. Fortunately the heavy stuff went South of...
