OT? write-offs for business commute by
Chad Munroe
I'm in the process of taking flying lessons and working toward my
license. Does anyone in this NG fly their private plane for a
business commute? If so, is it possible to get tax deductions for
travel expenses? I'm just thinking ahead.
Out of curiosity, how many here have an accountant for taxes,...

Using Wideband Aviation Antenna for TV Reception? by
CHANGE USERNAME TO westes
Will a wideband aviation antenna, that receives across 50 MHz up to over
1000 Mhz, be useful for VHF and UHF TV reception as well as aviation
frequency reception?
Can such an antenna be used by multiple devices listening to different
frequencies at the same time?

Anyone tried any of the "in the ear" headsets? by
Charles
I'd like to hear anyone's experience with one of the headsets like the
Lighspeed L1 or Mach 1, or the Clarity Aloft headset. I really like
the idea of them, if they work. Besides the obvious questions of noise
attenuation, comfort and sound quality, I'd like to know if they
interfere with glasses...

KLN94 -> GTX330 (GND/ALT switching) by
Charles Oppermann
The GTX330 transponder is the recent addition. The 330 works but the
auto ground/air mode switching (based on GPS ground speed) doesn't
work.
According to the GTX330 Pilot's Guide, the only thing that GND mode does is
turn off transponder replies.
It's my understanding that it is no longer...

Does an "IFR approved" GPS placard require database updates? by
Charlie Derk
During my instrument training I was told that if you have an IFR
certified GPS, it had to be updated if you were using it for IFR Flight.
You can use it VFR even if it hasn't been updated

Potential Class B Bust by
Charlie45
Yesterday I was out flying Acro with my instructor and allegedly we violated Class B airspace.
We were doing three series sequences at 3000 and the Class B floor where we were was at 4000. The seqeunce consisted of a "Sharks Tooth" to an "Immelman" followed by a "Spin".
Upon completion of the...

Question by

I recently took a student pilot flying with me. He only has about 20 hours I
was wondering if it's legal to let him take the controls being I'm only a
private pilot. If so is there any possible way he could log this flight time
we do together. I realize it can't be dual being I'm not...

Scattering Ashes by

flying magazine. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have a

all over the wings. ...
