Aircraft down in North GA by
Wright1902Glider
The news reported yesterday or the day before that an experimental ultralight
plane (they obviously don't know that there is a difference) crashed in north
GA. There were no details beyond this. Anyone have more to add?

Stupid Question from a newbie by
expresstechonsite
Ok... I'm sure most anyone that reads this will think I'm an idiot, but
I'm so curious...
Could I build an ultralight airframe from EMT (electrical conduit) from
the local hardware store? I know that welding it would be inadvisable
due to the fact that it is galvanized (although I understand...

Antennas by
Terry
Thanks, John. The reason that I'm looking for something other than a
standard 1/4 wave antenna is that I have one of those now, and it
isn't working. I know nothing about antennas other than what I've
read on the 'net, but I've been told that the location of mine isn't
the best. It's on the wing...

tongaloa
Anyone know where to find a TM for Army XM-76 antioscillation monocular?
Let's you read a license tag or roadsign from a helicopter.
I checked the logsa army.mil ETM site but not there.

Numbers don't add up in 2007 Nall report? by
Jim Logajan
The 2007 Nall Report is out:
http://download.aopa.org/epilot/2007/07nall.pdf
But I'm having a hard time believing the numbers presented in Figure 35 on
page 24 (which is explained in the first paragraph on page 25). I'm pretty
confident that there are more than 2,972 registered experimental...

Jim Weir's - October 2000 (Understanding LED lamp indicators - Part II) by
dwbauer
I'm trying to construct this circuit from Jim Weir's circuits page. Not
having much luck, but I am trying. I'm a sailboater, (you would not want ME
driving a plane!).
Can Jim or someone with some electronics look at my non-working attempts. I
have some pictures with my circuit descriptions...

The "Whirl": More Efficient Rotary Craft? by
sanman
Here's something I was reading:
http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99996380
So beyond the mere claim of being more efficient, why would it actually be so?
The claim of hovering for 4 days is quite a jump, when compared to Global Hawk.
Is this even vaguely realistic?

How would something like the Hiller flying platforms, the Piaseki "AirGeeps"

don't seem to fit any of the normal categories I'm familar with.

Airborne DF by
ccwillwerth
Hi All,
I am fitting my homebuilt with instruments and radios, and wanted to add a
Direction Finder. I wanted a doppler type, but with small antennas in a 4
point aray with a small dimension or distance between the antennas. Am I
really far out of reason, or is this an achievable goal?

Flyin' (sky)Ferraris OR The media is catching on... by
wright1902glider
Looks like our old friend Paul is at it again. Reminds me a lot of the
contractor-guy in that movie "The Money Pit". (When will my house be
done? Oh, in about two weeks!) Right. And Jerry Lewis said that we
were only a few years away from a cure for MD. That was in 1977.
At least the reporter...
