Steve Hill
Hi,
I'm looking for photo's of Willie McKnights Hurricane (the real thing, not a

Anyone know if these are on the web somewhere, or if not a book that has

Wildcat crash in Houston by
Wright1902Glider
Following the Wings Over Houston show on Sat., a Wildcat (FM2?) crashed on
final. One fatality. I did not see the crash, but did see him depart
Ellington and form-up with a B-25. If anyone has more (or more accurate)
details on this accident, please e-mail me.
Thank you,

Wicker or Cane seat for biplane by
Ebby
Hello,
I am building a Hatz biplane which looks a lot like the Waco. I was
thinking about putting an authentic looking wicker or caned seats in it.
Can someone in this group point me in the right direction for some plans,
ideas or examples? Thanks

Why were almost all of them scrapped? by
[email protected]
Didn't ANYBODY after WW2 have the love of airplanes and the foresight
to buy at least one military airplane, especially since they were so
cheap? What were they thinking?! Did they not see the value of these
planes for future generations? Why didn't some civilians simply buy a
B-17 for $700 and...

What is a Doyne Apache? by
JAX
I've seen some Apaches listed that are 'Doyne conversions' but I can't
find what the conversion involved, except maybe 180hp engines. I know
about Geronimos, but what exactly makes up a Doyne conversion Apache?

Just wondering what kind of aircraft are being restored by newgroup members.

Welding question: 43-13-1B, Fig.4-43 by
Mike
Subject figure shows how to splice a streamlined tube. It seems to be
saying use the same thickness/dimensions as the part being repaired,
saw the trailing edge, force it open, and slip the splice over the part
being repaired. Let's minimize bending the splice material by slipping
it over the strut...

Welding question - by
Michael Horowitz
In preparation for doing some simple OA welding on a rudder, I've been
practicing on some 4130 scrap. Since there is filler where it's not
structurally important, I"ve been filing the excess material. All
except one and it's as hard as if I were trying to file stainless.
Is this an indication that...

Welding question by
Mike
At http://www.taylorcraft.info/tcraft/proj207.jpg we see a restored
tailsection.
The bushing appears to have first been welded to a plate, and the plate
in turn welded to the tailpost. Is that what was done? Is this done to
help with alignment of the bushing? - Mike
