What's high TT for a Lyc 235? by
Paul Folbrecht
My engine has 1200 SMOA and 4500 TT. I can find very little regarding
the relevance of total time. Maybe it's close to irrelevant since a MO
touches everything anyway. Lyc even zero-times their remans, of course,
even they are obviously not truly 0 TT. Just curious about the subject
of engine...

What's on YOUR Christmas list? by
Jay Honeck
Ho, ho, ho....!
Me, I'm asking Santa for a new, solid-state transponder -- which is about as
dull as socks & underwear, but the third digit on mine keeps going wacky
once in while. I *hate* it when ATC thinks I've set my squawk code
wrong...
What are you hoping to find in YOUR stocking on...

What's the scoop on Headsets Inc? by
Jim Carter[_1_]
I have a nice set of DC 10-13-S that I'd like to convert to ANR. Headsets Inc advertises in AOPA Pilot magazine and has a reasonable web site for products and services. They also have some customer testimonials of varying degrees of flattery on their site.
I'd sure be interested in hearing other...

Whatdayathink.. by
Tom S.
A few months I ran my idea of acquiring a Commander 114/115.
As was pointed out to me, the numbers historically sold and the companies
current financial plight makes future parts availability questionable.
After some digging and evaluation, I am now considering bypassing my 2nd
choice as well,...

Whats the deal with counter-rotating props? by
Dico
Hello,
We're looking into a twin and the Twin Comanche is on our list. I know
that the later models have the counter rotating props -- although i
don't know too much about what this means, other than its "better".
We fly a mooney now and thus I don't worry about the prop -- as long as
it keeps...

Wheel Pants Weight by
Patrick
I was wondering how much weight taking off the wheel pants would gain
me for cargo? I have a 1979 C152 with wheel pants and need to be able
to carry a little more weight. I've heard around 18 pounds, but does
anyone know for sure?

Whelan Strobe Troubleshooting... by
zatatime
Does anyone know how to go about trouble shooting a Whelan strobe
light? It is on a Piper Cherokee and is the "beacon" of the airplane.
I had an extra bulb I don't know the status of and swapped it out, but
still didn't get any emission. I'm thinking that its probably the
unit, but I don't know...

Whelen lights by
[email protected]
I was just curious about ya'lls experience with Whelen lights on your
aircraft. The reason I'm asking is that I work at the USA's largest
firetruck manufacturer and I deal with Whelen lights daily. My experience
with Whelen lights on firetrucks is that while they tend to be
technologically...

Whelen Quartz Headlight? by
Jay Honeck
I'm looking through my new Chief catalog, and see that Whelen is now selling
a quartz landing light, part number WHL Q4509, for $74.50.
As many of know, GE sells a quartz landing light, part number GE Q4509, for
$25.00.
Anyone know if the Whelen light is something special? Does it last 5...

When does an engine needs an overhaul? by
Victor
When does an engine needs an overhaul? There are several indications
that the engine is comming to the end of its life. But what do peolple
really look for to decide an engine is to go to overhaul.
Low oil pressure, High oil temperature, Low cylinder compression, Loss
of power. Which is the factor...

When to replace a prop? by
Jay Honeck[_2_]
Our Macauley prop was last overhauled (new blades) in 1991. It was
re-sealed and checked by a prop shop in 1997.
It has approximately 2400 hours on it. It's still in spec, doesn't leak,
works fine. Our A&P owned a prop shop in the 1990s, and is very
knowledgeable about these things -- but...

When Weather Diverts You. . . by
Patty
It's part of flying, and there's nothing you can do about it. . .
perhaps.
You're trying to get to your destination, or maybe you're trying to
get home. You look at the weather and no matter how you plot out your
time, direction of flight, and other options, you're staying put!
Blessing or...

Where can I get a POH for a 1977 Cessna U206G? by
carlos
Can anyone recommend a place where I could order a POH online? My 206 is
lacking a POH and I'm tired of arguing with the previous owner over its
whereabouts. I'd rather just go online and order a new copy.
Thanks for any leads.

where do you buy it (was which oil to you use?) by
The Weiss Family
It seems a majority of us use AeroShell 15W-50.
Has anyone found a really cheap place to get it.
There is a Shell distributor near my home that I was going to call on
Monday. Any other ideas?

where exactly to put the noise filter by
Dico Reyers
Hi There,
We have a 1966 mooney m20e.
We're just in the process of putting in a noise filter so that it will
hopefully reduce some of the static on the radio.
I'm wondering if the filter goes between the generator and the voltage
regulator.... or if the filter goes between the voltage regulator...
