Flight of the Grumbly by
Dylan Smith
The Manx flag flying above the gate flapped in the wind. The gate
dismally creaked as I opened it, and Bob drove his diesel station wagon
through. Weak winter sunshine reflected off the damp patches on the
ground. I closed the gate, and thought of Douglas Adams's description,
"several billion...

Nice Logo by
Louis L. Perley III
For what it's worth, Google has changed their logo (probably just for the
day) to show the Wright Flyer. The two spinning props make the two o's in
Google.

Amazing Udvar-Hazy NASM photos by

facility looks fabulous!
(And the damage to the Enola Gay appears to be slight, thankfully.)

online avnews ... what's it good for? by
virga
....and what would you like to see there.
it just seems to me that maybe the excitement and spark is gone. AVweb
was probably the first and surely the best, but now it's one of many.
Zoom's online rag is daily, but his history makes all of the content
questionable. EAA and AOPA are a bit too much...

Google N Number search by
III
I just learned that one can type the N-Number of an airplane into
Google, then click search. At the top of the results list there will a
"Search FAA database" link. Click that, and the FAA registration info
turns up. It takes less time than it took me to write this message.
Maybe that's old news,...

How I celebrated the Anniversary by
jon
I returned a few hours ago from my flight to celebrate the 100th
anniversary.
A few years ago I had an idea for a flight I wanted to take but never
motivated to do it.
Thanks in a good part to a post in rec.piloting asking what was planned to
celebrate the anniversary.
I thought to do it on the...

O.T. Please help a pilot's wife with her "homework". by

Thanks to all of you who helped my son with his homework. My wife's is a
little harder but potentially more rewarding.
She is on the Board of The Center for Grieving Children, a wonderful

Centenial TFR by

I just read that Bush will speak at the Kill Devils Hill bash. Does this
mean that the Wright Flyer won't be able take off?
Nothing else will be flying, how inappropriate.

The myth that won't die. by
Roger Long
There it was on again, on "Nova" of all places, in a show about the Wright
brothers the night before the centennial.
The "Equal transit, air has to go farther over the top so it's faster" crap.
They even had the worst of the diagrams that usually accompany this
explanation. The air goes over the...

Average brokerage fee? by
sue t
I've been scanning the 'net to get an idea of an average brokerage fee for
an aircraft (1968 Cherokee 140) valued in the $20,000 to $25,000 range. My
expectation would be advertising the aircraft and acting as initial point of
contact. The aircraft would need to be sold from my home base, not...

body makes its own blood alcohol? by
Teacherjh
ref:
http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/33/srg_gad_gasil4of2003.pdf
On the middle of page 3 of the document it states:
The human body manufactures its own alcohol, and it is possible for the level
of that self-manufactured’ alcohol to almost reach that 20 milligram level,
so it would be prudent for...
