I did find the "abandoned" beer cooler - thank you Jay. And please thank

NAvion Owners by
RyanDog
Afternoon all,
I am a proud NAvion owner and looking for other like minded crazy pilots. :)
Shoot me an email of your location and type, pictures are great too.
If you know of any laying about forlorn at an aerodrome near you, please send me pictures and locations (contact data if you know the...

Ownership and passengers by
Roger Long
The FAA is looking for two things when considering the question of whether a
private pilot was carrying a passenger(s) legitimately. One is evidence
that the passenger is incidentally aboard on a flight that was going to take
place anyway. Second is that the pilot and passenger have a shared...

molding plexiglas websites? by
[email protected]
Hi all,
I'm want to replace the windows in my airplane and want to make my own.
I've got an oven, piece of plexiglas and the old window.
Are there any good websites with information on how to do this without
killing myself?
Thanks

Lycoming 0-320 Exhaust studs working loose by
Mike Spera
I have had intermittent problems with 0-320 exhaust studs working loose,
usually with overhauled cylinders. I understand it if I have a stubborn
nut to remove for a gasket change and the stud comes out with it. I
figure that if I reuse that stud/nut again I am asking for it to work
back loose...

Oshkosh 2005 pictures up by
Alright, I realize that Oshkosh is so very last week, but with my drive home
to Southern California and going back to work it's taken me until now to
weed through all 1992 pictures I took.
I weeded them down to 539... obviously not all of them are interesting but
at least they're broken up into...

Engine Failures per Million Hours by
[email protected]
I was wondering if anyone has ever found any hard data on the number of
engine failures per million flight hours.
I am specifically interested in the 0-300-D, the engine that I fly
now, and the 0-470 which I'm looking at buying....
Anything helps...
Thanks,

"certified' parts by
Jimmy B.
Yesterday, I attended a FAA safety seminar where the topic was
maintenance issues. I walked away with a few surprising nuggets of
information. These issues have been discussed here in the past and some
of the information posited here disagreed with what the FAA said. So, I
thought it would be...

Aviation applications for the Droid phone by
Bob
I am thinking about a Droid phone update. Are there any aviation
applications available for it? I suppose I could access airnav.com or
aeroplanner, but there might be something already customized. You
people that have one, comments?

Finding "Neutral" Position on Piper Elevator/Trim Tab by
[email protected]
I have a '79 Piper Warrior with a floor-mounted flap lever/trim wheel
and cover. The trim wheel has a metal needle pointing to a sticker on
the cover to show "neutral". The only reason this matters is that
setting the trim wheel/tab to neutral is part of the pre-flight
checklist.
The plastic...

Poor Audio Quality, FlightCom 403 Stereo Intercom by
mikem
FYI: I am helping a 210 owner install a FlightCom 403 stereo
panel-mounted intercom. After straightening out some
shielding/grounding/wiring/input-level issues, and while testing the
unit, I noticed that the music quality through his headphones sounded
very "tinny", was obviously lacking in bass...

Landing Lights at NAPA by
Jay Honeck
In discussing our relatively new Skycraft landing lights (the
cut-into-the-leading-edge-of-the-wings type) here the other day, I noted
that I had just burned out a GE 4509 after around 35 hours. This surprised
me, since, being out in the wing, I expected there to be less
filament-killing...

Throttle or Prop control first after takeoff by
cyberflyrg
We are having a argument about what is better to do after takeoff. Some mechanics say pull power back first after takeoff and then adjust prop speed after, my mechanic says prop speed back first and then manifold pressure after that.
What the "right" thing to do that will not damage the prop...
