Replacement shoulder belt inertial reels in a Cherokee. by
[email protected]
There was a thread a few months ago on this topic. After seeing that
information, a friend of mine installed a $150 inertial reel from
Chief aircraft in a PA28-180 as a replacement for one that had frayed
and stretched and was not retracting well.
Overall the installation went well and the...

replacement rotating beacon for 64 piper cherokee by
Patrick Mathews
My rotating beacon stopped rotating and I need to replace it. I would like
to do this as economically as possible as I don't do a whole lot of night
flying and would rather spend the money on avgas.
It seems my options are limited to the Whelen HRCFA strobe - I tried to use
a 70509 flasher but...

Replacement nose wheel pant for 1971 172 by
[email protected]
My nose wheel pant is damaged. A body shop quoted me around $450 to
fix & paint it, and new ones from Cessna are over $1k. Used are
available on E-Bay for much less, and they all seem to say the same
thing - "should fit any 172 & 182, but do your own research". The
parts manager at my FBO said it...

Replacement DG & AI: Suggestions? by
Andrew Gideon
One of our club aircraft, as a result of water damage, needs a new AI and
DG. But rather than just replacing the units with the same type, we're
going to give careful consideration to the possibility of an upgrade.
Since this is prime flying time, I've been given an entire day to...

Replacement Cessna 152 panel by
Paul Folbrecht
Where can I get one? I looked at places like Aircraft Spruce and found
nothing.
My panel is cracked and chipped in numerous places. It looks like crap.
I know you can buy replacement panels without the holes drilled for
chearp. I can take care of the holes.

Replacement Cabin Speaker for Cessna? by
John Clonts
Anybody know where to get a replacement cabin speaker other than
Cessna? They want $110 for it!
This is for a Cessna 210M. The speaker has 4 terminals. Two of them
are wired to ground. One of the others is from the audio output, and
the other is from the stall and landing gear horn...

Replacement Cabin Knobs by
Jonathan Goodish
I am in search of a source for replacement knobs for carb heat and cabin
air controls (defrost, cabin heat) for a Piper Cherokee. Mine have
cracked and fallen apart (or are close to it), and need to be replaced.
I search in some usual places for plastic parts, and can't find them.
Does anyone...

How do I get a replacement? FAA.gov give instructions for lost

Replacement altimeter suggestions by
[email protected]
All I can say is, "CRAP!" The altimeter didn't quite pass the IFR
certification. It had some "erratic" movement, required lots of tapping, and then
would bounce back and forth between the acceptable error limits for the certification.
A couple altitudes were over the limit.
The guy doing...

Replacement Altimeter brand names? by
[email protected]
In the continuing saga of my altimeter woes, I've discovered that
my current unit has been forced into obsolecense. It's a Macleod unit,
and most overhaul places say they won't touch them. The guy who did the
IFR cert says, "Buy a brand name like United or Kollsman."
Any thoughts on one...

REPLACE GO-300 ENGINE WITH O-300 ENGINE IN CESSNA 175 by
nucleus
Has anyone here done this?
I am considering the acquisition of a C175a with a runout engine
and replacing the engine with an O-300 engine. Is there a kit for
doing this?
Does the engine mount have to be replaced? I am guessing
the airframe is just a C172 airframe. Am I wrong? Does the
cowling...

Replace (Fix) ADF? by
Tom Nery
My '66 Cherokee 180C currently has a T12C ADF. Even though it has analog
tuning, the previous owner installed a Davitron digital frequency
read out so it's not as bad to tune as you'd think.
Anyway, it now longer points to the NDB (actually the needle never moves)
but can successfully tune am...

Repaving evicts us from our hangar? by
Jay Masino
I was curious if anyone else has experienced this... Our airport is
having it's ramp area re-paved. Because of scheduling, they're starting
earlier than expected. 4 buildings of T-hangars have to be out by this
Monday (the 21st). Actually, you have a choice of being tiedown outside
for 2...

Repairing Plastic Instrument Panel Overlay by
Jeff P
I recently saw an article in KitPlanes or maybe Sport Pilot about how
to repair / rebuild a plastic instrument panel overlay. Whichever mag
I saw it
in, I've managed to throw away. Anyone know what issue this was?
Could you email me a copy?
Thanks for the help.

Repairing Plastic by
Jay Honeck
The faceplate on my Narco CP-136 Audio Panel was broken off (and glued back
together) before I bought the plane. The left side of the faceplate, where 2
retaining screws attach it to the metal chassis, had been glued at least
once before I bought it, and my avionics shop had glued it back together...

Repairing Fiberglass Wheel Pants, Part II by
Jay Honeck
I stopped by the shop this morning, to see how the wheel pants were
coming along.
What a difference! All of the wowed-out holes have been backed with
aluminum that has been riveted to the old fiberglass, and then
fiberglassed and filled over and around. High stress areas have been
reinforced, and...

Repairing Fiberglass Wheel Pants -- Results by

Okay, here's the final tale of the tape:

two directions. Probably not a 100% perfect method, but close...)

With repaired fancy pants: 143 knots at 23 squared.

Repairing fiberglass wheel pants by
Jay Honeck
The fiberglass on our "Fancy Pants" main gear wheel pants has been
deteriorating for some time. The holes in the fiberglass through which the
dzu-type connectors pass are "wowed" out -- and now some of them are
completely broken out.
As a result, several of the metal backing plates have fallen...
