(sorta OT) Free Ham Radio Course by
RST Engineering
With the crossbreeding of amateur (ham) radio operators and pilots being
something on the order of 25%, this is only slightly OT.
There is a free online ham radio course being offered and sponsored by RST
Engineering. It is intended to take anybody with an interest in getting a
ham radio license...

Exhaust Valves by
Boelkowj
I am having my 0200A top end serviced for new rings, "miked" out for tolerances
and valves looked at and replaced as needed. My question is with 650 TT on the
engine can a careful visual by the certified overhaul shop satisfactorily
determine that the exhaust valves can still be reused rather than...

spinner trimming technique by
Dick
I'm finding new aluminum spinner installation a little more complicated than
originally thought G.
My new spinner shell extends rearward about 3/8" past the aft bulkhead edge
necessitating a spacer between the crank flange and aft bulkhead to clear
the cowl nose as well as then requiring longer...

M14 Radial Cowl Parts by
Dan Horton
Gentlemen,
It's been a long time since I posted here. Hope all the regulars
are doing fine.
My latest project is powered with an M14 radial I needed a cowl
for it, and I like metal, not fiberglass. Long story, but I wound up
with two extra sets of cowl spinnings. Anybody interested?
Each set...

ELIPPSE prop at Reno by
ELIPPSE
Check out the incredible performance increase Tom Aberle got on his
"Phantom" biplane using the custom-designed 3-blade ELIPPSE propeller.
He went from 221 mph qualification in 2003 to 241 mph qualification in
2004 on 245 rpm less! In the heats and Gold, he passed all but the 2nd
and 3rd place...

Antenna questions by
Steve Ruse
I recently purchased a Vertex Standard VXA-150 handheld radio for use in my
(wood frame) Pietenpol. I am now trying to determine what antenna would be
best to extend my range. Would likely see a substantial difference in range
between a ground plane antenna dipole antenna such as the Advanced...

fuel tank plumbing by

My apologies to the group if this has been covered recently.
I bought a Smith Miniplane DSA-1 off eBay recently which has a 10gal aux
fuel tank in the upper wing center section which is not plumbed into the
fuel system yet. I would like some input from the RAH gallery as to how this
could be...

composite using aluminum windowscreen layer by
Allan Morrison
Can anyone see an advantage using aluminum windowscreen for a layer or
layers in a composite structure.
The outer layer(s)could be fiberglass where exterior smoothness is
required.
At ~0.5 oz per ft^2 it should be useful for something where high
strength to weight is desired.
Has it been used in...

V-6 STOL Project For Sale by
Bruce A. Frank
Kenny has too many projects and just no time to finish this one. The
prop mentioned below is the McCauley 8467 two blade. Most builders using
the Ford engine find a need to repitch it to 72-76" to keep engine below
self imposed redline of 4800 rpm.
