COBRA Hydraulic Jack by
[email protected]
Has anyone replaced the scissors jack on a late 90s vintage COBRA trailer with a COBRA Hydraulic Jack. If so I would appreciate it if you would share any details about the switch.
Thanks,
Bill

Gliding Club Experiences by
Patrick
Hello Gliders,
I wanted to make this post to see other pilots experiences at their local gliding clubs. My experience at my local gliding club is so-so, speaking as a young soon to be solo pilot, because of organisational management.
My friend and I have been quite frustrated due to extreme...

Hello everyone, I'm a new pilot looking for a decent affordable glider that's suitable for a newbie that I won't outgrow within the first year or two. I'd appreciate all suggestions and info of gliders for sale.
I'm currently flying my clubs 1-26 until I get the time in to move up to the DG101....

Questions on NiMH Batteries by
Dan Marotta
I'm considering replacing the lead-acid tail battery in my LAK-17a with
NiMH batteries. I find D cells rated at 1.2v 10 Ah which would be ideal
to build up a 12v 10 Ah pack. I've already checked fitment in the
sealed battery box using alkaline D cells.
Can anyone tell me if these batteries...

ASW-12 Proto Question by
Steve Leonard[_2_]
So, for any that were involved with the returning of the prototype
ASW-12 from California to Germany, can you tell me a bit about the
trailer the plane was in for shipping back to Germany? Did the
glider load into the trailer over the tongue, or in the more
conventional way, through the back of...

Front Electric Sustainer by
Greg Arnold[_3_]
I see that the webpage now has pictures of the latest design, with a
bigger prop, and a more streamlined attachment to the spinner. Also a
video of it running at Aero.
After the flight tests this summer, it will be interesting to get
information about its real world climb rate and...

Silicon free polishes? by
Bernie[_4_]
Hello folks,
it's annual time and we plan to give our LS1-f a bit of a buff and
polish. A product called NuFinish was recommended, however a quick
Google search finds that it contains silicon and I understand that
this is not a good thing should any future repairs be required. Is
this correct, or...

Economy Class by
RRK
How about creating new FAI Class-The Economy Class. New gliders you
can buy for , let's say $40,000 or less. To hell with the other specs.
The only one shall be...40G. It will screw the high end producers, and
should flood the market with hundreds of very good, simple and
affordable gliders.

175 or 250 watt transponder? by
Itsaplane
Needing a replacment, my transponder shop told me that above 15k' the
FAR's require a 250 watt transponder (125w below 15k').
True?
I'm pretty sure that sailplane owners are mostly installing 175 watt
units and flying them to 18k' (and higher in wave windows). Right?
If this 15k' rule is real,...

I've dispatched this question to the dealer and factory, but need to

My question is, in its factory configuration, are the three lines from

Scottish Glider Crash by
Mike the Strike
As reported elsewhere here, an experienced British pilot crashed his

photos, it looks more like an outlanding in rough terrain. The injured
pilot remained in the cockpit until he was found over 24 hours later.
Early reports suggest...

HANDHELD RADIO by

All,
I have been using a JRC JHP-500 handheld radio for field communications
and have been a bit disappointed with it's performance. It has a
standard 6" flex antenna. When I am in the air and someone tries to
talk with me using the handheld, the transmission always sounds very
weak, even if I am...
