camcorder recording Cessna intercom audio question by
Marty from Sunny Florida
Help!
I tried recording the Nav/Com audio to my Sony camcorder in a c172. The gain
is so high it just sounds like saturated noise. I basically wired from the
co-pilot's headset jack a cable to the sony 'mic in' jack. Has anyone here
successfully recorded a flight with clean audio, and if so, how...

High wing vs low wing by
temp
I am sure this has been beat to death many times but I have not seen it so
here you go again.
I have just agreed to buy an aircraft, pending the few details that always
crop up. It happens to be a low wing plane, but all my time so far has been
in a C152. The low wing appeals to me as the lack of...

Low Time and Insurance - Cessna P206 by
Shawn
I am a student pilot getting ready to solo next week (26 hours now). I
am interested in a 1/3rd share of a '65 P206 due to my large family.
Apparently annual insurance is currently $1950. The seller has
contacted the partnership's insurance broker who has checked with
their current insurer who...

New York State Sales Tax (Aircraft) Info by
James Keane
All,
I am about to purchase an aircraft that currently resides in CA. I am
planning to fly it back to NY and register it in New York. I
understand that there is a 4% sales tax on aircraft registered in New
York, due at the time of purchase.
Is anyone aware of any interesting loopholes to this...

Old Cessna 172 --- Cracks in Flap Trailing Edges by
Larry Smith
How are these things being repaired, with a 1"-wide aluminum sheet doubler
sandwiched between the corrugated skins? That's what one of the IA's here
suggests, other than replacing the skins, which would cost an arm and a leg.
TIA.

Marker Beacon Tones by

Where do marker beacon tones come from? Are they generated in the
receiver or are they transmitted from the ground station. I ask
because sometimes I see my lights blinking, but I don't...

Proposed costs may endanger small air services by
Guv Bob
Anyone know anything about this? The video says new taxes and fees have been proposed for general aviation and it could shut down service to small airports.... The usual gloom and doom lobby stuff.
There's nothing specific on the website except to "send money." Do you know what "new...

Moving the Annual Up by
Jay Honeck
For several years now I've taken advantage of the rule that allows you to do
your annual on a 13-month (rather than 12 month) basis, by simply finishing
the annual on the 1st of the following month each time.
Now it seems this procedure has come back to haunt me, as my annual this
year is...

What's on YOUR Christmas list? by
Jay Honeck
Ho, ho, ho....!
Me, I'm asking Santa for a new, solid-state transponder -- which is about as
dull as socks & underwear, but the third digit on mine keeps going wacky
once in while. I *hate* it when ATC thinks I've set my squawk code
wrong...
What are you hoping to find in YOUR stocking on...

AC to DC Converter for APU by

This is for all the RV'ers and/or pilot/campers in the group. I'm wondering

I do some airplane camping each year as well as own a fifth wheel.
I was wondering if something like the RV...

Turbo Normalised Bonanza F33A by
Geoff Semler
I am looking at buying a F33A which is turbonormalised. Does anyone have
any knowledge about the value this adds to the aircraft. I know the cost of
fitting but this one was done in 1991, and it is the original turbo. How
much does it add to the value of the basic aircraft?
TIA

Radio Squeal by
B. Jensen
I just hard wired my ANR headset into my ship's power so that I no
longer have to use a 9v battery as a power source. Now I am getting an
intermittent squeal when I transmit. I never had this problem with the
9v power pack. My ANR is a Headsets Inc. conversion to a David Clark
headset.
Any ideas...

Depreciating aircraft parts, dealing with taxes, etc. by
Andrew Gideon
Most owners, I assume, have corporations which do the actual owning and
which provide a liability firewall. But how are taxes managed?
The issue I think I'm facing is we pay money into the corporation against
future events like overhaul, repainting, etc. These monies add up. But
since this is...
