They put dimples in the clay, like a golf ball, and repeated the same test and got 11% better mileage. This again begs the question why don't wings have dimples, especially for...

Rotax vs. Jabiru by Cal Vanize
As I continue to research, the Zodiac XL and the Sonex are on the short list. Both offer a couple of engine options including Rotax 912 (variations) and the Jabiru 3300. Real-world performance doesn't seem like it would be that much different, at least on paper. I hope this isn't a religious...

The Impossibility of Flying Heavy Aircraft Without Training Nila Sagadevan | February 21 2006 Nila Sagadevan is an aeronautical engineer and a qualified pilot of heavy aircraft. What follows is an attempt to bury this myth once and for all, because I’ve heard this ludicrous explanation...

Dennis Fetters Mini 500 by EmailMe
I have no ties to any of this Dennis Fetters guy or the Mini 500 debacle. I ran across these postings about Dennis a few months back and started reading all I could on the groups and the web about Fetters and this helicopter. All I can say is unbelievable.... I have read things tossed back and...

Good plans-built Light Sport Aircraft by Rob Schneider
Having been a lurker on this site for a while, I'm not sure what I'll get as a response to this post, but here goes: I have a long term plan to get a PPL and build a plane for cross country travel (from South Dakota to Idaho, so it would involve flying over the Rockies). Maybe a Dyke Delta, but...

Electric motor for hang glider by Legend Length
I have been trying to do some calculations of how much battery power would be needed to keep a hang glider flying level. With some help I arrived at about 1 or 2 kW (a few horse power) for a typical hang glider with 10:1 glide ratio and 180 pound (80 kg) pilot. As a comparison, gasoline engines...

What about putting aluminum foil on your antenna? by John Wier
Doesn't putting aluminum foil on your TV's antenna (rabbit ears) help reception by catching more rays? So in a composite airplane, with the antenna inside the fuselage, what about putting some foil on it to catch radio rays better?
