Restoring an Old Spam Can -- To Strip or Not to Strip by
jls
What's the weight penalty for not stripping an old 172, just painting over
the old paint, after sanding it first, of course. I'm new at this but
willing to make a go of it. I'd like to use a high-gloss polyurethane and
some bright colors. TIA for your advice. I've been receiving a lot...

Removing JB Weld? by
Richard Lamb
The oil tank o this particular A-65 has a small leak near the
mounting flange. The owner has repeatedly applied JB Weld in
an effort to stop the leak, but without much sucess.
So we are going to try brazing the thing, but first have to
remove a pound or so of stickum.
Any suggestions on what NOT...

Oshkosh RAH RAP Frequencies (Final ... sort of) by
Jim Weir
Since I have no verified or observed data from which to work, here are the final
suggested frequencies for the RAH/RAP group to use going to, coming from, and
while on the field:
FRS -- Channel 3 with no PL (no tone encoding)
Amateur 2-meter -- 145.75 simplex no PL. Use the local repeaters...

Zoom fables on ANN ZZZZZZZZZZZZ by

GA Life near Manhattan by
Marty Ross
I'll be moving to Manhattan from Los Angeles (does it get any more extreme?)
next month.
Any advice or relevant anecdotes out there to help me gather some leads
about continuing my flying hobby from there? I've been renting (in L.A.) -
usually from the FBO where I did my training.
I'm IFR rated...

Well, truth be told, someone DID sneak some "Grain Belt" (in cans, no
less!)
onto the grounds -- but we made those go away quickly....

Hello,
about carbon fiber blades:
what is the blades resistance of sand abrasion, rain and gravel impacts?
Is carbon fiber leading edge acceptable?
Is metalic leading edge mandatory?
thanks

I am beginning to suspect that our "Andrew" is a troll of only marginal
ingenuity. He put this same thread on several groups, always with a very
different title and, afaics, has not returned to any of them.
If I am wrong, it won't be the first time.

Now though, you are the one who has spent much of your life living and
loving
aviation. Now, maybe its your turn to share that with those who are as
you
were twenty two years ago. Pass it on and share with someone else.

Cell Phone in small plane by
Ron
Will a cell phone work from the air in a small plane?
Is it legal? If not, by what authority?
Some of the newer headsets have the ability to accept a cell phone
plug so one can talk through the headset.
Adapters are available for cell phone to headset interface
(www.flightcell.com). What is this?

You have a flair for exageration. After researching many of the new
units, I doubt that any of them is "twice" as good as any other one.
If I've told you once I've told you a million times, don't exaggerate...
Sorry, couldn't help myself.
Cheers,
Kevin
