Supplemental oxygen by
2G
The other day a couple of pilots were treating 123.3 as their private chat line which I was forced to listen to so I could hear my friend's hourly position reports. One of the things one kept (repeatedly) talking about was having to descend to 12,500 to "reset" the 30 minute clock. This is entirely...

Instrument panel labeling by
[email protected]
I'm looking for ideas on how to make professional looking placards/labels for a instrument panel rebuild I'm doing. I need to make tiny labels for fuses, and switches and I hate, hate, hate the look of the continuous strip label maker "sticker" stuck to the panel. It looks tacky, but they never...

Affordable Oxygen by
John Foster
I was given an older MH EDS unit to install in my Phoebus glider which I got for a song and am restoring. The glider has a bracket for the oxygen tank, but no tank is installed. The bottom is a rounded fiberglass cup, and there is a flip bracket to go around the neck. It sits behind the seat pan...

KGARS - Kiting Glider Automatic Relase System by
Karl Striedieck[_2_]
Richard Green of the Wycombe Test Group, High Wycombe, Bucks. UK designed and tested an auto release and offered to sell me one back in 1980. His long hand letter to me said that he was "an old age pensioner" so maybe he and his BGA certified release are something of history.
The engineering blue...

Grob 102 maintenance and parts manual by
Tango Papa of IN[_2_]
Recently I Purchased an Astir CS. I was surprise to see that someone installed the spoiler connection bolts the way that if I open the spoiler fully it will jam all the way open.
Could anyone share maintenance manual that we can install the new bolts correctly? I have to find out what kind of...

Grob 109 by
Brien
Thinking of buying a 109A need to know the good the bad and the ugly of it.
Just what do I need to know about it, I have had people say stay away from
it others say it is good if you know how to fly it ?

Transponder antenna installations by
Dick[_3_]
I am installing a new vane style antenna for my transponder. My
original antenna was located where the cg hook used to be on my
discus. This location often tangled with the trailer ramp when
loading the glider. Next I tried a whip style on top of my instrument
panel cover. All of the self...

XCSoar With LNAV? by
Dan Marotta
I've got a couple of friends who have acquired Androids and installed
XCSoar. Both of their gliders have LNAV and GPS-NAV installed.
Can their Androids be interfaced to the LNAV via K6-BT or IOIO?
It was easy connecting with my 302 and K6-BT...

LS1-f neo by
[email protected]
This one caught me by surprise: DG announced the LS1-f neo on St. Valentine's Day, 14 FEB 2017.
http://www.dg-flugzeugbau.de/en/dg-aircraft-news/ls1-f-neo-fliegt/14428
Is this all new?
Fiberglass?
Carbon Fiber?
Other?
New, or rebuilt old LS1-f?

First Glider LS4 by
Jeff Runciman
Thank you again for your advise. Any more thoughts
on the LS4? Any concerns with the age? What should
I pay for one? And are there any flying groups for
the LS4? Thank you again and I hope I can contribute
to the group as I go along.

FAI Sporting Code Section 3 experts wanted by
Stewart Kissel
I googled this and could not find an answer...and I
reread the Code last night...so forgive my denseness...but
I cannot figure out---
For a distance task with 3 TP's and no Start Point
or Finish Point declared...does the release from tow
have to be the start or can it be declared post flight?
If...

Glider vs. Power Pattern Bank Angle? by
Jim Vincent
In power, they're taught to fly patterns with very little bank angle, whereas
in gliders we're taught to bank at about 45 degrees or so. I well understand
the rationale for banking steeply in gliders, but why are power pilots taught
to do shallow turns?
TIA for the explanation.
Jim...

What glider if not a Speed Astir? by
Flyhighdave
So some of you really don't think to highly of the Speed Astir. What then would
be your recommendations for a first glider for a low time pilot training &
soloing in a G103 II A? I need something under $20,000. that will keep me happy
for a while. Thanks for your input!
