Democracy and the neocons: a marriage of convenience
By Jim Lobe Wednesday, July 21, 2004
Of all the delusions that American neoconservatives perpetrated in
their drive
to take the US to war in Iraq, the most durable was the notion that
they were
committed to the spread of Wilsonian democracy. As...

Trivia ?: 1st NFO CAG by
Mike Weeks
Perhaps some input from the readers to this question can at least narrow down
the possibilities:
Anyone know who they believe was the 1st (or one of the 1st) NFO CAGs?
This has come up an off-net discussion, and it would be nice to mark the
appropriate individual in the CAG DB.
Thanks.

I've never seen a picture or movie of a Tomcat doing a display without a

there for the Turkey to be flown in a demo - take off, do some aerobatics,
land...

CV transit of Suez Canal ? by
Mike Weeks
The news of GW heading north thru the canal has a photo of the a/c on deck w/
sealed canopies. Have seen several similar photos of other CV transits.
Why is that done? Prevent damage in case of a sand storm? If so, are intakes
and exhausts also covered for those birds? TIA.

Orion Oregon Coast by
clovis
While flying out to Tillamook Head Oregon on 07/10/04 at about 12.10 PM
PDT at around 1200 feet we saw an Orion about 500 yards off shore well
below our altitude flying from North to South.
We were above it and out to sea about 500-750 yards past where the Orion
was flying so we couldn't tell much...

Double-knit dress blues? by

Not exactly the right group, but someone here will know, so I beg your
indulgence.
When I resigned my commission in the 1970s, double-knit dress blues were
authorized.
Recently, I began playing taps at military funerals as a volunteer, and
learned that wartime veterans are authorized (DOD...

737 MMA by

Question for the naval aviators: How is the new 737 MMA going to perform as the
P-3s replacement? I know it's bigger, carries more "stuff" and whatnot, but
from what I know of jet engines (even high-bypass fans), won't it be very fuel
INefficient in the same regime as the P-3 prowls? Cruising...
