a pilot question by
[email protected]
Hi all,
I'm a pilot. I mean for real. Like certificated. My question is, why
aren't sims worth a damn? They're cheezy and crappy. The flight models
are wrong. The radio equipment doesn't work right. The terrain isn't
photorealistic and I can't pull negative Gs. You can't do pilotage.
The dead...

Parhelia Pilots by
Quilljar
A couple of us are suggesting that those who use the Matrox Parhelia with
either two or three screens might like to congregate on
rec.aviation.simulators to exchange information and tips. This is a
newsgroup that has been getting very quiet recently and we hope to jerk it
back into life. We thought...

Must haves! by
Graham
Having been out of simming for a good couple of years (I took up the
real thing!), I'm wondering what are the must haves. I see there is
Ultimate traffic and My Traffic. Any real difference between the two?
What is required nowadays for online flying etc. Any other add-ons
that you just wouldn't be...

I love "eye candy" ... any FS2002/FS2004 comparison screenshots? by
Jack Straight
My question is this. Are there any screenshots which contrast the same
cities/countryside/whatever in Flight Simulator 2002 and Flight Simulator
2004?
In other words, are there any screenshots which contrast the view of
various locations like in between landmarks, the Grand Canyon, or Hawaii...

Free-Fall for 160,000 ft? by
Randy L.
I found a rather unusual thing to do in FS9. There is a REALLY
spectacular elevation goof near Kamarang, Guyana (SYKM) using the default
scenery. There is an incredible spire that extends to an elevation of
+61,000 ft, and right next to it an even deeper sinkhole that goes down an
unbeleivable...

Bridges in FS2004 by
Kevin Reilly
Have Microsoft not been keeping up on their Bridge Licensing Fees or
something?
I took delivery of FS2004 this morning (thanks Play!) and in general the
improvements are very impressive, especially in the visuals (Manhattan
looks absolutely gorgeous). However on visiting two of my favourite
flying...

Saitek X45 Joystick and Throttle by
Dave Schwartz
Hi. Does anyone have the Saitek X45 Joystick and Throttle combination. Got
it at Best Buy recently. Are you happy with it. Can you suggest
assignments for it's numerous buttons and controls? Should I keep it or
return it?

Weirdest FS9 Airport Ever? by
Randy L.
I don't know if this has been discussed or mentioned before, but I just
stumbled accross the weirdest Microsoft FS2004 airport that I have yet to
find. Try setting up a quick flight from Davis/Muskogee, Ok (KMKO) in FS9
using the default scenery. After takeoff, take a look around the airfield
that...

What is a good desktop Simulaor? by

History:
Years ago, I had some nice experiences with FS5, sing a gameport, but I
sought more pilot proficency realism.
So I bought Jeppesen's Flight Pro 6.0, upgraded to 6.2, to get IFR
practice. I got it to work about half the time using a Wingman Joystick
on USB. It required the retail CD...
