Legacy's Va & Vne by
[email protected]
I looked but cannot find Va & Vne on most fast homebuilt like RVs and
Lancair Legacy. If Legacy could cruise 280mph at 8,000, does it cruise
in the yellow? What is Legacy's Va & Vne? How about RV-7? Which
homebuilt has the highest Va & Vne? Thanks.

"Ringworming" and repair by
Michael Horowitz
Am I correct that 'ringworming' is caused by the placticizers's having
evaporated form a dope finish, and the condition can be corrected by
re-introducing placticizers via a 'rejuvinator' ?- Mike

Nieuport flying habits by
[email protected]
Curious if anyone out there would like to comment on the flying habits
of the Graham Lee 7/8ths Nieuport 11 replicas. I'm thinking of buying
one and curious what people have to say. I have mostly Ercoupe (with
rudders) and Cessna time, but also a fair amount of glider time, so I
know how to use a...

The death of the A-65? by
Michael Horowitz
As I understand it, you can grind a scored shaft once and install
oversized bearings, but that's the limit of grinding, then you need a
replacement.
I believe I"ve seen (sometime in the distant past) cranks offered for
sale, but I may be mistaken. Are they getting hard to find?
As the A-65 is no...

What the hell? by
Gig 601XL Builder
This is terrible and I hope they catch who did it but the question has to be
asked, "Why in the hell would anyone leave their plane outside his hangar
one night with a can of lacquer thinner on the ground beside it?"
Sounds a little strange to me.

Certificate terminated, rebuildable? by
Ramset
I may purchase a Valentin Taifun motorglider that landed in the trees.
The insurance company sold it as salvage. I looked up N13BH on the
FAA site and found this.
Certificate Issue Date: None
Status: Cert Terminated (I'd assume the salvage dealer requested
this because of the...

Spaceship One Question by
Jim Carriere
I was at the Smithsonian Museum (the Air and Space one in Washingtion
D.C.) last weekend, where Spaceship One hangs in the lobby. Does
anybody know why there is a dent in the bottom of the fuselage, very
close to the back? I wonder if I missed something in the press releases
or other coverage. ...

Smyth Sidewinder drawing 302-2 by
Juan Jimenez
If any of you have a copy of, or know someone who has a copy of the Smyth
Sidewinder plans, I need a copy of drawing 302-2. Let me know if you have it
or know where I can find it. Will pay duplication and mailing costs, of
course.

Skybolt Tail Incidence Question by
Scott Rodriguez
My set of Skybolt plans call out a starting horizontal stabilizer incidence
angle of 0.5 degrees to 1.0 degrees, although IIRC, some years ago folks
indicated the actual incidence needed is greater, around 1.5 degrees to 2.0
degrees.
Are there any Skybolt drivers out there that know what their...

Wing in ground effect by
(blank)
Can anyone lead me to a homebuildable WIG? I know Universal
Hovercraft has plans for a wing attachment to one of their kits, but
that's not what I'm after. I have found a towable glider, and that
has promise, but I'd rather not re-invent a wheel that's already out
there.
Thanks.

High Cost of Sportplanes by
Gordon Arnaut
It seems a lot of people have been writing letters to Kitplanes magazine
complaining about the unexpectedly steep prices of the new crop of

respond. His message: Get used to it.
This really infuriated me, not only because the...

Your Chance to Design a Fly-In by

Okay, so I've been "volunteered" to be on the board of directors of the
biggest fly-in event in Iowa City's history, the Eastern Iowa Big Kids Toy
Show, scheduled for May 20 - 21, 2006.
See us at www.BigKidToyShow.com (Yes, they made me wear a -- *sob* -- TIE
