Poll - Dumb****s by
Ol Shy & Bashful
I'd vote for myself but I'm not a dumb****. Aggravating sometimes but
certainly not dumb. Who is your favorite? Seems to be a paucity of on
topic posts of late and more time spent on slamming people with the
insults born of the Simpson's era or is it Dr Suess?

Headsets that let you hear the wind? by
[email protected]
I was doing pattern work recently with a crummy old headset with poor
seals. I was expecting just to be annoyed by the extra noise (and of
course, I was) but what really surprised me was how much information
was in the wind noise -- as I sped up, slowed down, applied flaps, etc.
I could really...

Bose X headset service by
Dan Luke
When I brought the airplane home after Katrina, I stepped on the
headset cord while deplaning, pulling the connector out of the battery
box. Sheer clumsiness.
I called Bose on Sept. 1, explained what happened, got a return # and
sent the headset in that day.
It arrived back at my home today,...

Oregon Trail GPS route? by
tom pettit
Hi All,
I'd like to follow the Oregon Trail by air. A gps would make the route
finding very easy. I've googled my brains out, but haven't found a gps data
base to download of the trail.
Anyone know where to find such a file?
thanks,
tom pettit

Here's a Wild New Idea! by
-Mark-
Hey why don't we just talk about flying
airplanes in this group? Myself, I keep
getting stuck flying these high-wing Cessnas,
but hopefully a nice little light-sport low-wing
will be in my future soon.
Or is this off topic now?

Looking for older runway light fixtures by
Ron Lee[_2_]
We have some older runway threshold lights (L861 SE type) with
individual red and green lenses that are smooth as opposed to the ones
today that have some shape to them. These lenses are inside the clear
globe. They are about 17 years old and I can't find replacements.
Anyone know of a source...

FAA Administrator Sees Herself As Part OfThe Airlines by
Larry Dighera
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/transportation/july-dec07/delays_08-07.html
(audio and video are available)
The Federal Aviation Administrator sees herself as part of the
airlines. At least that's what I infer from her statement:
In fact, what's amazing is we're running at almost 90 percent...

Question for Bob Gardner - Multiengine bank angle by
kevmor
I just finished reading the Jeppesen "flight discovery" series for
their Multiengine manual, and just started reading the ASA's The
Complete Multiengine pilot. I noticed in their book that they
mentioned several times that, for best performance, you don't need 5
degrees of bank that planes are...

Air France Flt 358 vs. thunderstorms by
[email protected]
I've read several reports online re the Air France crash at Toronto
that there were thunderstorms in the vicinity (one account said "right
over the airport") If so I'm curious why the captain didn't divert or
hold away from the storm until it passed (fuel status?). If there was a
storm nearby that...

Interesting day for flying in the ADIZ by
Michelle P
Well today our mid-day run started out rather boring. The first hour we
were cruising for accidents. Nothing to be found. Then the call come in
from my observers boss. Head to baltimore and see what's going on. Once
we joined the party over the tunnels the fun started back and forth to
see which...

Maybe my math is rusty but it seems that the ETEs for the 130kt displays for
the 396 on the back cover are wrong. The 150kt displays seem correct.

question charity flight by

Hey, I'm you basic 200hr PPL-ASEL and a friend

Four questions:
