Over to ATIS? by
paul kgyy
I fly in the Chicago area and sometimes find it awkward on a busy
frequency to break in to tell the controller that I need to check ATIS
at my destination. I've tried listening to both ATIS and ATC at the
same time but have never been able to make that work very well.
I do have the Garmin 396 and...

MMU 5 DP lost comm question by
Andrey Serbinenko
A question to IR pilots.
Suppose we have the following situation: a flight departing from
MMU rw 23, cleared as follows: "Morristown 5 dep, vectors to BIGGY,
then V3, MAZIE, etc... 2000 feet, expect 4000 10 minutes after
departure, dep freq, squawk etc..."
Now, during climb-out via heading 210...

NACO Plates/"Plate Grabber" by
Mitty
Thanks for all the input, folks. I also print my destination plates so they are
easy to put on the yokeboard, but trying to put either the punched or the bound
books onto yokeboard/kneeboard is a problem.
What I came up with is a little gadget that will permanently (double-stick tape)
mount to...

Help interpreting an approach chart (KCCR LDA Rwy 19R) by
Terence Wilson
http://www.airnav.com/depart?http://204.108.4.16/d-tpp/0711/05320LDA19R.PDF
Suppose I am approaching the KANAN NDB IAF from the south, maintaining
2500', which nav aid do I use to track 001 deg outbound? When I first
looked at the chart I assumed it would be the CCR VOR 001 radial, but
on closer...

800 number for void time? by
paul kgyy
I've heard some discussion that there is a national number to call for
a void time on filed IFR flight plans.
True? And if so, what's the number?

NACO Plates/How do you hold them? by
Mitty
I am curious how people hold their NACO plates on kneeboards and yoke boards.
One plate or the whole book. I have designed a little gadget that makes this
easy but have no idea whether the market wants such a gadget or not. I did;
that's why I designed it.
TIA.

LPV only? by
Doug Carter
Have any WAAS LPV approaches been established for runways that do not already
have an ILS in place? I'm presuming the limiting factor is LPV deployment is
clearing the approach airspace, lighting, runway length rather than drawing the
approach plate...

Adiabatic lapse rate by
Everett M. Greene[_2_]
Does the lapse rate equation hold in all cases? I was recently
wondering what kind of temperature would be reached at 35 Kft
over Arctic Canada in January. It seemed that the lapse rate
equation would lead you to expect temperatures that would be
causing nitrogen and carbon dioxide to be...

Aspen ODP question by

I have a question about the ceiling and visibility minima as
alternates for climb gradients in departure procedures. A good
example is at Aspen (KASE), straight out of the FAA Instrument
Procedures Handbook, but they don't explain the portion I find
difficult to understand. I've duplicated the...

Hi all,
I'm taking a break from the corporate world and want to make something.
I'm looking for suggestions that could make your aviation life easier.
Is there a electronic gadget or widget that would make your flying or
