Wax by
zatatime
What type of wax do you use on your airplane? I'd like to stay away
from the standard "carnuba" type waxes because its a royal pain to
buff around all the rivets (its a Cherokee). Any one step polishes
out there that don't require the second buffing step?
This plane has not been waxed in at...

Choices... by
Brinks
I'm looking at two older Cessna 182's. Both are the same year, both have
roughly the same radios, both are in roughly the same condition, both are
asking about the same price, except for the following:
1) Plane A has a newly overhauled engine, some hail damage, and newer gyros
2) Plane B has...

The cost of war by
Jay Honeck
Do you even know what the definition of Fascism is? Do you realize how
oxymoronic using the phrase "Islamo-Fascist" makes you appear?
Actually, that wonderfully descriptive term was coined (or, at least,
repeated here) by this group's very own Don Tabor, DDS.
I think is quite nicely sums up...

ROP masking of engine problems by
Roger Long
Word was just getting around about a year ago that it is possible to run
some carbureted engines lean of peak. It was discovered that using carb heat
would improve the mixture distribution.
I had a lot of time early in the year to look into this because our O320
H2AD was apart due to premature...

Airplanes in a 60' x 60' Hangar? by
Kyle Boatright
Anyone have experience with a 60x60 hangar? Our EAA chapter may have the
opportunity to lease one, and the economics will be driven by the number of
aircraft we can store. We'll have a mix of types - figure 25% RV's, 25%
kitfoxes, 25% C-172's, and 25% Cherokees.
Any thoughts on the number of...

C172 fuel cap by

I have two different after-market fuel caps on my C172. The right tank
cap is vented; the left is not. Should both be vented? Is a properly
functioning vented cap one that only allows air to flow into the tank?

Repairing fiberglass wheel pants by
Jay Honeck
The fiberglass on our "Fancy Pants" main gear wheel pants has been
deteriorating for some time. The holes in the fiberglass through which the
dzu-type connectors pass are "wowed" out -- and now some of them are
completely broken out.
As a result, several of the metal backing plates have fallen...

Lubricity and Auto diesel conversions by
Dude
I read in Road and Track that US diesel fuels have lower lubricity than the
euro diesel. This can cause problems with the new import diesels.
Does anyone know about Jet A?
Will this affect the SMA and Thielert engines?

Oxidation vs. Bad Paint? by
Marco Leon
While washing and waxing my white Warrior last weekend in prep for the
winter, I noticed that the water squeezed from my towel was a bit white. Is
this a normal side-effect from oxidation or is it bad paint? The plane was
last painted 1996 with DuPont Imron.
