Competition for Trade-A-Plane launched tonight by Montblack
Trade-A-Plane (TAP) has some new competition I learned tonight. If you own an airplane AND are a pilot, you will receive a (FREE) subscription to a new buying guide, Aircraft Owner (AO). I think the first Vol. went out tonight. 125,000 copies shipped. Take that TAP. http://www.aircraftowner.com/

This mail is an honest cry for help and not spam. by Felixberlin
Hello out there, my name is Uwe Felix Siewert and I have a little shop in the old town of Koepenick in Berlin/Germany together with a partner. Unfortunately we are in serious financial trouble. Therefore we try to find on this way (and with an unusual "poster" action) sponsors and/or givers to...

King Nav Head by RST Engineering
About a month or more ago, I received a (free) Nav Head from a friend in Marlborough MA. I'd like to publicly thank that person for their generosity, but there was no name on the package. I know it came from a post here in the ra* groups, but I can't google the original document. Any help? Jim

Wash, polish, wax? by Jim Burns
Spring is almost here (ok, I probably just jinxed it) and we're wanting to really clean up the Aztec before applying a good base coat of wax for the summer. We've got a little oxidation and some fuel streaking, but mostly just hanger dust, belly oil, runway grime, tire, brake, and exhaust dust to...

Another Garmin Alert, Some Units Recalled by Dave Butler
The following from avweb.com: By Mary Grady Newswriter, Editor Garmin issued a service alert on Wednesday warning users of some of its brand-new GNS 430 and GNS 430A units not to use them for IFR operations. It was the company's second service alert this month to include those units....

A&P cert# search by mindenpilot
Does anyone know of a database I can use to find an A&P's name? His signature in my log book is not legible, but I can read his certificate number. I found one search on Landings that will search by name/city/state, etc. I don't know his name or city, just state and cert#. Thanks, Adam N7966L

Insurance for Cirrus SR20 and SR22 by Doodybutch
I was thinking about upgrading to a Cirrus if I could scrape the money together. They're really nice, if you haven't checked one out. An acquaintance of mine told me that the insurance on these aircraft is much higher than comparably priced singles because of the ballistic parachutes. Apparently,...

new owner questions by kmuller909
Forgive me if these are dumb questions, but as a new owner - '75 Sundowner, I'm learning as I go here.. 1. If I install a panel mount intercom myself, I need an A&P to agree to sign the log. True? 2. My nav indicators are a King KI-204 with glideslope and an old KI-201 or something that is...

Cessna 172 flap skin repair by Steve
During the annual of my 1963 Cessna 172D the A&P discovered a one inch long crack originating from the rear rivet line on both one flap and elevator. He says there is a Cessna approved repair procedure to replace a portion of the skin and no need to replace the whole part. Can someone direct me to...

Ethanol Powered Airplane Certified In Brazil by Victor
For those of you who do not have experience with etanol as fuel here it goes. Engine compression is a little bit biger than a gasoline engine. It burns a little bit more fuel. The big problem is that ethanol is corosive. It will eat even carburators specially treated for ethanol. What I was told...

Plastic Interior Parts? by Mike Spera
O.K. With the new seat belts on order and the pending order of the carpet, wall kit, and seat covers, the last 2 items are the headliner and the window surround plastic. The headliner is in good shape with only a slight variation in the color here and there. I will do the "Kiwi shoe polish trick"...

Finally Going to Tackle the Interior - Day 0 by Mike Spera
Day 0 (Wits and wallet still intact) Just placed the call for the order to Airtex. I did talk to the folks in the shop to ask about whether hog ringing through the support canvas will REALLY hold up and not tear. They say it works fine. While calling in the order, I was not sure about the screw...

Tach Generator Cessna 340 by [email protected]
My RPM gauge does not show anything at startup on right engine. Then at runup it comes to life at high RPM. Then after that it works fine. It wobbles a bit sometimes in the air. My take is that my tach generator is the problem. Any other ideas. Also do you know where to get a replacement unit or...

Plug and Jump by NVArt
Problem grows out of a six month old RG battery that won't hold a charge for two weeks. Bought a plug and Jump from Aircraft Spruce. Neato idea; I don't have to remove the cowl. I was going to use it to trickle charge the battery. Trouble is, when I plug in the Plug and Jump, it powers the panel. I...

Insurance exclusions??? by Paul Anton
I just got my renewal policy from AIG. In the section on War, Hi-jacking and other exclusions it this exclusion. "Any malicious act or act of sabotage" It seems to be that this means if my plane is vandalized, broken into, or even stolen that it will not be covered! Almost any act by a person...
