Matterhorn white aerosol spray can by
sky
I'm replacing an inspection cover on my plane, the plane is painted
with U.S Paint Awlgrip Matterhorn White. I have a small touch-up
bottle of matterhorn white, but the inspection cover is too big to
brush it and it would look bad.
Does anyone know if matterhorn white or something very similar...

Garrett Rescu/88 ELT Wanted by
Mike Spera
ELT will activate but will not turn off. This unit is not available at
the various boneyards. Anyone have a working unit for sale? I HATE the
thought of spending any time in the tail to mount a different type and
tearing apart the interior panels to run new wires for the...

A real head-scratcher by
Jay Honeck
So we hop in the plane yesterday for the 50 minute flight to
Janesville, WI, and I notice that the display on our JPI EDM-700
engine analyzer looks funny.
Some of the LED numbers are missing pieces. Most are not. All the
vertical graph/bars appear to be fine.
Now for the odd part: The missing...

2nd airplane by
Jim Carter[_1_]
Based on a posting by newps, I started thinking about what the perfect
2nd airplane should be assuming the 1st aircraft was purchased for
longer all-weather cross-countries. In other words, if the first
aircraft was a Navion, or Bonanza, or even a Sierra or Arrow (newer
aircraft excluded because we...

Flew home and boy are my arms tired! by
Steve Schneider
Literally!
The in-laws live out in Chandler, AZ. Each summer they escape the heat
by taking their 5th wheel and heading to cooler parts. We'll normally
fly the kids out to wherever they happen to be so they can spend a few
weeks with Grandma and Grandpa. A few weeks later we fly out to wherever...

Buying recently rebuilt or fixing one up? by
[email protected]
I am currently taking flying lessons. I would like to own my own
aircraft and have been considering various options.
I am currently training in a 152 and I think a 150 or 152 would be a
fun first plane to build time with.
The 150/152's that appear to be in good condition seem to be in the
35k range...

flightcom 403mc auxillary audio question by
Mike Noel
I've just upgraded to a garmin 496 from a 296 and want to hook up the audio
output to the intercom. I haven't had a chance to look at the back of the
intercom. Can anyone tell me what kind of auxiliary connection the 403mc
uses? I would like to make up a patch cable before I visit the hangar...

IO-540 mystery by
Paul Tomblin
Our club's PA32R-300 has an IO-540 with lots and lots of hours on it.
After 20+ years, at this year's annual the compression was down a few
pounds on a couple of the cylinders, and the mechanic said he really has
his doubts about it passing next year's annual. That might be
significant, or it...

Odd KNS-80 Problem, looking for lore-based solution. by
[email protected]
Ok, you avionics wonks, here's one for you. KNS-80 problem...
Around the time of installing the GPS, the groundspeed on the
KNS-80 began reading 00 KTS under all conditions while flying
BUT when pinged on the ground--in the aircraft--immediately reads
the correct value even with the test signal...

Mixture--science vs witchcraft? by
Douglas Paterson
Still getting to know my new baby (1990 TB-20, normally aspirated 250hp
Lycoming IO-540). I imagine my question here must apply to most non-turbo,
non-FADEC pistons (though I gather there's some sort of altitude compensator
on some airplanes' engines?). I live in Colorado, which means routine...

Looking for Next Plane by
mbremer216
I am looking for suggestions from the peanut gallery on my step-up aircraft.
I am IFR certified with about 500 hours PIC.
I currently own a 1968 Cherokee 180D. Good, sturdy bird and has served me
well. It's great for sightseeing and taking folks for rides, but slogging
along through extended...

Least Expensive Plane To Buy and Own by
Michael Adams
I am looking for some input on the least expensive airplanes to own. I've
heard so many horror stories about the $5000 or even $15,000 annual, or the
seat adjuster that costs $600, that I thought I would get some input on this
before buying. So I'm looking for low purchase price (used), low...

Cherokee exhaust repair? by
[email protected]
Hey all... I'm thinking it's getting close to where the mufflers in my Cherokee 180 could stand
to be repaired/replaced. Any thoughts on a good place to have it done? This is the dual-muffler style
as is on the clamshell-cowled later -180's.
Also, I'd be interested to find out if there's any...

Glue and nails by

I'm in the process of rebuilding a wooden aileron spar. The process
involves gluing and nailing 2"x3"x1/16" reinforcing patches to the
spar. I plan on applied glue and clamped the patches in place; when
dry, putting in the nails. What are the nails doing for me and is
hammering in nails after the...

KAP140 problems by
Cary
Yesterday I went out for some IMC practice, and had several problems
with my autopilot. The first thing I noticed is that while in altitude
hold and heading mode, whenever ATC gave me a heading change the
KAP140 had a hard time maintaining altitude. The VSI would go up or
down 600 to 800 fpm during...

Anyone have a good source or tips on finding a new or good used
