Terminal Forecasts (FT) by
[email protected]
I'm a bit confused about the aviation Terminal Forecasts (FT) report.
Has this report be replaced by the TAF report? On the www.noaa.gov web
site I see the TAF report avialability but I don't see the FT report
anywhere.
Thanks...

Four crashes this month have already made August the worst monthfor aircraft losses by

*LONDON, England (Reuters) -- Four crashes this month have already made
August the worst month for aircraft losses in more than three years,
according to a major insurance broker.*
The string of crashes has caused the loss of aircraft with a total
insured hull value of over $170 million, said Aon...

How not to play nice with a GPS by
Roy Smith
I had an interesting experience earlier today. I thought after all this
time I had the CNX-80 figured out, but I found a new way to screw things up.
I was on the POU GPS-24 (http://204.108.4.16/d-tpp/0508/00286VDG24.PDF),
full procedure, Kingston IAF. We were IFR, in and out of IMC. We had...

VOR Check question by
Michael 182
I was told by an avionics guy that if a plane has VOR's they must be
accurate to file IFR, even if I file /G.
FAR 91.171 says "(a) No person may operate a civil aircraft under IFR using
the VOR system of radio navigation unless the VOR equipment of that
aircraft..."
I'm not debating the logic of...

IFR GPS by

Looking to upgrade the panel to include an IFR GPS. Are there really any
alternatives to Garmin? (either 430 or 480 or 530) (where alternative is
defined as comparable functionality for comparable price)?

IFR VMC into KAXX by
John Clonts
I'm planning a flight into Angel Fire, NM (KAXX). I will be coming
in from the south via Las Vegas (LVS) at 10000 feet. If it's IMC I
will land and Las Vegas and drive from there (the only IAP into kaxx is
"out of my reach"). But if it's CAVU, I will fly still at 10k,
up the valley and pass,...

ADF in Europe by
Ron Rosenfeld
Are ADF's required outside of the United States?
I had a demo flight in a new Mooney Ovation2GX the other day. Quite a nice
airplane, by the way. Afterwards, looking at the price list, I noted an
ADF add-on for the Garmin G1000 panel as $15,500 (it's a Becker ADF, for
those who are interested;...

Descent below MDA -- what would you do? by
Roy Smith
What would you do in this situation? You're on the GPS-22 into Ellenville,
NY (http://204.108.4.16/d-tpp/0508/09390G22.PDF), planning to land
straight-in. Note the high MDA (1800 AGL). There's no weather reporting
at your destination, but several nearby airports are saying anywhere from
2-1/2 to...

Garmin 430 Training Software? by

NDB IAPs... going... gone by
[email protected]
I got a much thicker than usual packet from Jeppesen yesterday, and the
bulk of the changes were the removal of dozens of NDB IAPs. I had heard
that the FAA was looking to decomission a lot of "redundant" NDB
appoaches, but was surprised to see that they were really gone so soon.
I guess there's...

Garmin Data Cards by

6000 feet, Kansas City baro 30.14 on autopilot (KFC200), altitude
