Twin take off on one engine? by
Dallas
I'm wondering if it's legal? I'm referring to a recent crash where the
pilot decided to take off on one engine and clipped a tree.
Looking over 91.205, you can't take off with out a magnetic compass.. but
it doesn't say anything about one engine out of two.

Vne, Va and lift? by
Flaps_50!
I wonder, does anyone routinely recalculate limiting V speeds on the
basis of TOW? I assume that limiting Va speeds go with the square root
of the fraction MTOW loading so for 75% MTOW Va would drop to 86% Va.
But the question is, if Vne is limited by arodynamic issues such as
flutter or...

On wind - an elementary clarification by
D Ramapriya
When the ATC gives you the wind direction and speed, are they at any
particular point on the runway like its longitudinal center or takeoff
threshold, or is it simply the average over the runway length?
Thanks in advance,
Ramapriya

BLAIR was a VISIONARY by
Charles Douglas Wehner
No - not Tony Blair.
I am talking about Eric Arthur Blair, who wrote under the name of
George Orwell.
He was a "Redcap" - a military policeman - in India. He was apalled at
the maltreatment of the Indian people. Clearly, he had noticed that
there were "Brothers" amongst the British "authorities"...

Instrument Rating Question by
Darkwing
Well I think I am going to finally put in the time and effort to go for my
Instrument Rating this fall but exactly with what aircraft avionics is my
biggest question. Where I fly they have basically all new 172SP's with
G1000's for rent. Obviously this is the aircraft I prefer to rent for VFR...

Q-abbreviations by
jan olieslagers[_2_]
Some Q-codes are well known to pilots: QHN, QFE; some are studied in
ground class like QDR and QDM. Recently I heard say there also exists
one for "request to leave your frequency", ISTR it was QSR.
Which brings me to some questions:

ILS approach to near minimums - Video by

First time for me going down to near ILS minimums by myself. Video
includes how I brief my IFR approaches.

Video I think does a good job on demonstrating why the runway may not
be always exactly in front of you after wind correction angle
considerations...

Runway incursions by

This weekend as the FAA was at the FBO giving a seminar on runway

million GA operations increases while the number of operations
declines, we had two of them.
Coincidental to the seminar, the B-17 Sentimental Journey...

On Saturday I will be flying to Payson AZ from KCHD, this is my first time

over-flying KPAN mid field 1000 over TPA before descending into the 45...

brain shuts down with engine by

I'm having an embarrassing problem. My brain seems to shut down lately
as soon as the key is out of the ignition. It's little things, like
leaving my kneeboard (with gas card) or charts in the airplane,
forgetting to completely tie down the aircraft, forgetting to properly
fill out club paperwork,...
