Way to go Valvetom!! by
Greg Farris
Just when I thought this group was going to hell, along comes Valvetom
with his Blbcock fittings, Swivel Female Adapters and Brass Nipples!
He even answers his own post with a follow-up of the same post!
A refreshing dose of sanity after all that's been going on here of late!

More journalistic delirium about the Lidle crash by
Greg Farris
Must have been a slow news day in NYC - so the Times decided to pull a
sensation piece out of the drawer to take up some column space. It begins
like this :
NEW YORK - From the windows that usually provide sweeping views of
Manhattan in his 27th floor condominium, Gene Weisberger saw flaming...

Input jack on a Baron by
Greg Farris
I am aware that in real planes most commands are made through the
conventional flight controls - however there are some operations that
simply *require* a keyboard. Fuel management, for example.
Let's say I want to fly my Baron from Boisie, Idaho to Khartoum. I have
done in-depth...

More on Airplane giveaways by
Greg Farris
In my recent AOPA renewal notice, they mentioned the annual sweepstakes,
stating that the odds are "much better than the state lotteries that
millions participate in . . ."
That made me wonder - do people join AOPA, even non-pilots, just for the
sweepstakes? True, a one-in 500,000 (or whatever it...

Do not answer Mxsmanic by
Greg Farris
He is not a pilot - yet argues with the most experienced of them.
He does not participate in any threads other than the ones he initiates,
which should serve as ample proof of his disingenuous nature.
He throws out threads to provoke regulars here, admitting he "knows
nothing" then argues and...

French Inventions Quizz (slightly OT) by
Greg Farris
Well, since we've been discussing France
(Answers in following thread) :
INVENTIONS
The 19th and early 20th centuries were prodigious times for inventions
and discoveries. With the industrial revolution in full blossom,
scientists, engineers and dilettantes alike were at work in every nation...

French Inventions (answers) by
Greg Farris
INVENTIONS
Here are the answers, to the best of my knowledge:
PHOTOGRAPHY
TRUE: Most of the pioneering work in photography happened in France, and
almost no matter which process you consider to be the first true
photograph, it is likely to be French.

GA bias in "general" insurance? by
Greg Farris
Received yet another mailing offer for disability insurance - from a
reputable company, ready to pay a $250-500K indemnity for complete
disability. The insurance covered accidents at home or at work, and there
were very few outright exclusions. Of the eight or so exclusions they
listed, two...

Private Aviation kills French Government by
Greg Faris[_2_]
The French foreign affairs minister is expected to step down tomorrow,
over a matter of complicity and insensitivity related to her close
relations with now discredited Tunisian leaders. At the heart of the
matter however, is not the fact that she accepted courtesy favors from
the President, at...

ATC-pilot User Groups by
Greg Esres[_2_]
I'm considering setting up a controller/pilot user group locally.
Does anyone else here have experience with such groups? I'd be
interested in the format, content, and involvement of such meetings.
Thanks

Overhaul at TBO? by
Greg Esres
I'm curious as to the overhaul policies at flight schools or rental
outfits. Do they typically do an overhaul at TBO? Our school
supposedly had one that had 5,000 hours, though it had been topped.
Not sure if this was the one that crashed.

Flying to Memphis by
Greg Esres
I am planning a flight to Memphis, TN
Just saw this note, so it may be too late.
MEM is easy to fly into. Two FBOs, Wilson Air and Signature. They do
have landing fees, but will probably waive with fuel.
Fedex push times are not really a factor, since they're late nite.
But NWA also has...

C172S Landing accident by
Greg Esres
A solo student (not mine) had a landing accident today. Landed on the
nose wheel, porpoised a few times, and stalled the airplane in a
slightly nose down attitude. The student was unharmed, but the
aircraft is totaled.
Our flight school has been moving towards an all-new aircraft fleet.
It it...

All the Piper POH's I've seen say only use carb heat if you suspect
carb icing.

Flight Instruments Book? by
Greg Esres
I'm looking for a book that goes into *great* detail about the flight
instruments.
I have all the standard stuff, like the Jepp Instrument/Commercial
book, Instrument Flying Handbook, Lombardo's Aircraft Systems,
Kershner's books, and a few A&P books. But most of them only have a
page or two,...

Details on Baron Crash in Memphis? by

Everyone says wake turbulence, but the following description sounds
more like a Vmc rollover, as unlikely as that would be just prior to
touchdown.
