For [email protected] by
Bob Gardner
It is apparently not possible to communicate with you directly, so let me
explain how I got the 1.4 miles of protected airspace on the non-maneuvering
side of procedure turn airspace, and apologize for being wrong...the
protected airspace is 4.0 miles wide, giving the pilot even less reason to
work...

Does an "IFR approved" GPS placard require database updates? by
Doug
In regard to insurance, unless your insurance excludes it, you are
covered. So read your policy, paying close attention to the exclusions.
I can't imagine that a policy would exclude coverage for something like
that. All mine requires is the airplane be in annual at the anniversary
date of the...

WAAS for GNS 430/530? by
Dane Spearing
According to Garmin's product literature, the GNS 430 and 530 are
"WAAS-upgradeable", yet there is no information as to when this
upgrade might be available. Does anyone have any other information
on this?

Jeppesen Flitemap Discontinued? by
Will
I am a Flitestar user and I recently wanted to upgrade to
Flitemap IFR. To my shock, Jeppesen appears to no longer sell
Flitemap. Why would they stop selling their only moving map
product?

Non radar IFR by
Robert M. Gary
I just brought my plane back from annual. Apparently the shop forgot to
put the transponder antenna back on. I was impressed with how easy ATC
made flying IFR w/o the transponder. They did not require me to give
the full non-radar reports. They just asked me to verify my altitude
and report certain...

Any way to view Jepp "Text Pages" CD? by
[email protected]
Those PDFs are driven by the "TEXT" tab in JeppView. Click on the "TEXT"
tab and you will be led to a series of pages that are similar to the NOTAM
pages in a Jeppesen paper subscription

Best PDA or tablet soln for GPS & XM WX and gyro AI by
Paul Folbrecht
I decided awhile ago I'd like to get a PDA (preferred) or perhaps a small
tablet for in-cockpit GPS moving map and satellite weather and a backup,
emergency-only AI as well (not a simple GPS AI but a real solid-state gyro).
After days of research I can't seem to find a single system that...

pc simulator with Garmin GPS? by
paul kgyy
Anybody know of a PC flight simulator that has full flight controls
combined with a GNS-430 or 530? I have Garmin's 430 simulator without
flight controls, and On Top with controls and a 1990 GPS unit that
doesn't have approach fixes in the database. It'd be nice to have both
in one package.

GPS and relativity by
Everett M. Greene
According to an article in the November 2004 edition of
Scientific American, the GPS satellites' clocks have a
7 microsec per day effect due to relativistic motion
and a 45 microsec per day effect due to the lower
gravity in orbit. The two effects partially cancel, so
the net adjustment is 38...

Brief review of Anywhere WX by

A couple weeks ago I started a thread inquiring about the various PDA/tablet
moving-map/satellite weather packages available. After a lot of deliberation
I ended up buying ControlVision's Anywhere WX/Anywhere Map system and an
iPaq 4705 PDA. I used the system for the first time this evening and...
