Avionics How-To Guide by
Dico
Hello,
I'm interested in learning more about making harnesses and such to make
products like garmin 430/530 talk with a MFD or a EHSI or Auto Pilot.
I'm pretty technical and i'm just interested to see if I can get a
couple products like the above from ebay and just make them talk back
and forth. ...

Anyone every use VistaNav? by
Dico
Hello,
Has anyone ever used the VistaNav setup? (www.vistanav.com) looks
like it is a pretty slick looking system and while not certified, it
seems more robust than many systems out there. Any review for this
product or info on similar products?
Thanks,

Marine antenna by

Can we cut a wire VHF-Air antenna that we already own to work with a
marine band (higher than VHF-Air) handheld?
Yes, but given its proximity to the ground, it's impossible to really
tune it correctly. (Hang the aircraft 8 ft up from a crane...

Flight planning software the accounts for winds ? by
Mike Granby
FlightStar will do wind-aware routing and you can then look at the
various atltitude options for time, cost and fuel burn. It's not 100%
automatic, but it works great for my needs.

BPS Program on Daily winning out over pilots? by
Roger
I may have missed something as I caught only a little of the PBS
program due to the band opening and catching a bit from a station I
don't normally get. It looked like they were making Daily out to be
the environmentally friendly hero winning out over the pilots and
turning the airport into the...

new plane owner wanting to reduce costs right away... by
[email protected]
posted this just now in rec.aviation.piloting, but now thinking this
might have been a better place, apologies for the dup posting
I'm a new plane owner, and in an unusual stroke of luck I own the plane
outright. The problem is that financially I'm not in a position to
maintain it (or own it for...

3 passengers in the back of Mooney? by
Dico
Hello,
Someone asked me today if there was an STC or something that would
allow you to put an extra seat belt in the back of a Mooney. The
Mooney has a bench seat in the back and this particular guy has 3 small
kids (3,5,7 years old). Is it possible to add an additional seat
belt? Whats the...

MoGas Tips, Tricks, Concerns, How To by
Al Gilson
We have a 1964 Cessna 172E with a Continental 0-300D. It has the
AutoGas STC, but we've never used anything but 100LL. We've had some
lead deposits and a stuck valve last spring.
With the rising cost of 100LL at our airport, I'm looking at starting to
use 87 Unleaded auto gas.
Is there a...

Ack Emma? by
Dave Butler
I'm working my way through "On Glorious Wings", a collection of short stories
edited by Stephen Coonts.
In at least a couple of the stories from the first part of the 20th century,
there are references to airplane mechanics as "Ack Emma". I think the stories
where these references appeared had...

Bought my first plane:-D by
EridanMan
So I put a deposit down on N4261J, a Piper Cherokee 140 (that I
mentioned in an earlier post).
The previous owner had nicknamed her 'Julie' (for obvious reasons)...
My fiancee fell in love with the name so I think it's stuck;)
I don't think I have ever been quite so excited, I feel like a...

Carrying Skis in a Single... by
EridanMan
Hey Guys,
I'm in plane-search mode after recently passing my check flight.
One of the number one uses I want for the aircraft is to be able to
make VFR flights up to Tahoe in the winter for ski trips (hopefully
regularly, as the weather permits).
As such, I have a pretty basic question-
