Logging Time Consistently - Hobbs AND Tach by Carl Orton
I, like most (assuming) started logging their flight hours based on Hobbs time. I recently purchased a plane that does not have a Hobbs, but does have a digitial count-up timer. For consistency with my previous logged time, is there any issue of logging via the timer time as opposed to using the...

website about the SB-17 crashsite in Washington by gatt
A friend of mine and I hiked up into the Olympic forest to find this crash site. He ended up contacting survivors, family of the deceased, etc and uncovered an amazing amount of information. Last I heard, he went back up with a GPS to mark the debris field. It's a sad story...SB-17 crashes...

Cananian airspace by Mike Rapoport
What type of airspace is the restricted airspace north of Vancouver Island. Flightmap lists it as COMOX and says that it reaches from 18,000MSL to Unlimited. It is big, about 165nm on the NS axis and 110nm EW. What are my chances at getting cleared through it at FL240? Thanks! Mike MU-2

Formation flight panicks Bostonians by [email protected]
From today's AVWeb: FORMATION PHOTO SHOOT PANICS BOSTONIANS In another time, Boston residents might have thrilled to the sight of Sean D. Tucker leading a formation of four aerobatic aircraft on a photo shoot overhead. But in the post-9/11 world, office workers stream outside not for a better view...

Vancouver airports and costs by Robert M. Gary
Well I just made my reservations for my trip on Monday to Vancouver. At first Boundrey Bay airport looked like the better option, lower nightly tiedow fee, no landing fee. However, when you call about rental cars you find out that one guy has the exclusive rights to provide cars via Budget and you...

Loading luggage in other than Mooney by Robert M. Gary
The other day I saw a guy drive up to his Bonanza with a car load of bags. This is something I've done for years in my Mooney but many years since I've flown a Bonanza or Cessna. In my Mooney, the baggage door opens at the top of the cabin (the door is long enough that it goes down to the middle...

Homebrew E6-B for Palm published by John Bell

How to charge a Palm in C-172? by Marc
Hi All, I recently bought a Palm Tungsten T3 and bluetooth GPS antenna. Flying with it is great (with Co-Pilot and FlightMaster loaded), but battery life of the Palm is not so good (about 3 hours) I noticed that the Cessna 172 has a 24V cigarette lighter, while Palm on offers 12V travel chargers....

UAV's again. by Tony Cox
Not to reignite the argument that flared last month about UAV's in the National airspace, but Avweb is today reporting deployment around Tucson of the Hermes 450. This UAV operates *up to* 18000', which places it in the airspace shared with VFR traffic. (Defenders of this deployment earlier...

Glass panels: what OS? by Bruce Horn
I've been wondering... What underlying OS do the various glass panels (Avidyne, Garmin, etc.) use? It might actually make me think twice about buying a particular system if I knew that (for example) it was Windows underneath. I would think that the glass panel folks would be using one of...
