Book Review:Engines for homebuilt planes (Modern aircraft series), Christy by
Paul
A long-obsolete book
Joe Christy was a prolific and competent aviation writer who wrote many
short books for the G/L-TAB imprint as well as better publishers. This
one is not poorly written or edited but it is an overview of suitable
choices to power homebuilt aircraft circa 1977, its publication...

Book suggestions; Practical Welding by
Michael Horowitz
I'm an OxAy welder or rather, I can weld a nice bead on .035 4130 and
can jig up and build a cluster. But only on a workbench.
There is a wealth of practical knowledge that's not covered in the
books I have; for example, how do you weld on an aircraft while
retaining the fabric covering (think...

Books needed in Brazil! by
George
Hi, Everybody! I am a PPASEL and moved to Brazil last September. I
am teaching English, and have two classes of pilots and ATC guys. We
have exhausted the books I brought with me, and I could sure use some
student pilot texts (tapes or CDs also would be great!), anything
dealing with...

Books on design of small aircraft by
jan olieslagers[_2_]
These pages regularly mention books on aircraft design by one Tony
Bingelis. Has anyone the exact references for these, preferably ISBN
numbers?
Apart from the use of imperial/US measures, would these be as much use
in Europe as in (their native?) USA?
Any other study books to recommend?
PS I...

Boom Mic - Just Mic - Help? by
Gary G
I have designed and built a headphone adapter/transformer
for some custom-molded in-ear headphones that offer
excellent noise isolation (passive).
I actually use them as a musician.
In the plane, they sound very nice and are quite comfortable.
So - what I want is a boom mic.
I've actually...

Boost control for turbonormalizing. by
[email protected]
Howdy,
Given that there are now a few pseudo constant speed props available
for engines ~100 bhp, I was interested in looking at how a
turbonormalizer would work in engines of this range.
Has anybody here looked at the Rajay system or another of the
turbonormalizer kits? How do they regulate...

Bootlegging Butts by
[email protected]
Veedub heads need new guides now & then, especially for the exhaust
valves. If you're tooled up for it pulling the old guides is a
piecea cake. Core-drill the buttery soft bronze guide, slide the heads
into the oven, heat slowly to 450 degrees Fahrenheit then pop out the
cored guides with a...

Bose Aviation X versus DC X11 by
DonMorrisey
I won the company football pool so I've decided to spend a lot of money
on a headset, which is something I wouldn't ordinarily do. I'm
wondering if some of the group members have experience with either of
these head sets. There is a big price difference. If I'm reading the
Bose website correctly...

Bose vs. Lightspeed by
jls
I finally got to try out Bose headsets. They were a phenomenon.
Utterly clear, crisp and unimpeded hearing on a cross-country from WNC
to Charleston, SC in a 182. Very positive impression of these $1000
miracles.
I have a poor set of Lightspeeds. When at their best they are great
too, but...

Bothersome Phillips Head Screws by
Larry Smith
Doing a little work on old Cessnas for fun these days and have to tell you I
don't like Phillips head screws. The slightest corrosion and they stick
and freeze. Then your Snap-On screwdriver (make sure it fits) wallows the
head out, as you grunt and cuss. Then you have to pull out the old...

Brace wire by
Tom Mathes
Question Guys. In the Hatz wings the internal brace wire is specified
as 3/16" AN703. Does anybody know a source for this? Spruce and Wicks
do not specify.
Thanks,

Bradley Huggins and Doug Hart news. by
[email protected]
It looks like he's moved to Spanish Fork, Utah and now calling his
company Bradley Aircraft, instead of Bradley Aerospace. He also has a
You Tube channel.
In other news, it has been reported that Doug Hart of 'Hart Aero' has
been charged with 'stealing by deceit' and other charges are...
