Cheap IFR GPS (M3 approach ?) advice by
Martin Kosina
Hi all,
I am toying with the idea of installing a "cheap" IFR GPS in my '76
Cardinal. Being admittedly a bottom-feeder in this area, my choices
are basically limited to a used KLN89B, or the Northstar M3 Approach,
something like a $1500 setup total.
I don't think an avionics shop would touch...

CHEAP L. A. Area Flying Club C-172 by
[email protected]
We are considering starting up a Los Angeles area flying club based on
1/10 ownership of a classic vintage 172. The club would be based on
greatly reducing the cost of flying, whether for private pilots or
students looking to reduce their training costs. Initial figures
indicate a buy-in of $3995...

Cheap OX recomendations by
Guy Byars
On a trip last week, we flew for 3 hours at 10,000ft. Afterward my wife
complained of fatigue and at times during the flight she complained that she
couldn't "get enough air". I am thinking that supplemental OX for her would
be helpful. I checked the Aerox systems and the other systems, but...

Cheap paint job by
Paul Folbrecht
The paint shop nearest me wants $7K to do a 152 (2 colors). I can't
justify that for a $20K bird; the current paint isn't that bad. Is
there any way at all to get a real paint job done for, say, closer to
half that??

Chech the Radar indicators connector by
wise purchaser
What type of radar is it? The Bendix line of indicators use a round
'cannon' type connector on the back pull the indicator and see if
it's connected. Very simple use a 3 /32 allen wrench to unlock the
pawl slide it out and see if it's connected.

check your tachometer by
Robert Scott
Several years ago I developed a software program to read engine RPM
based on the sound that the engine makes. I now have a new version of
this (free) software available which is much easier to use than the
old verison. It runs on any Pocket PC, or any Windows laptop. You
can use it to check the...

Checking O-360-A4A Vernatherm by
Mike Noel
I decided to check the vernatherm on my Archer's engine because it is
running on the high end of the green during summer flights. I had already
checked the sending unit and guage and found it to be OK. I then removed a
1" hex cap from the top left of the oil filter adapter on the accessory
case. ...

Checking the battery in a Cherokee by
nobody
How often do you check the battery in your PA28? I don't remember ever
checking it except at annual. We just had paint and new interior done.
When the interior shop pulled the back seat they found where the battery had
overflowed and begun corroding. I wire brushed everything to bare metal
and...

Chelton AP-3C autopilot by
Kyler Laird
I've drooled over the King KFC 225 and S-Tec MAGIC autopilots for
awhile. At Oshkosh the Bendix rep. told me that an STC for an
Aztec was extremely unlikely. And the MAGIC, well, if I had $70K
to spend on my airplane it wouldn't all go into an autopilot.
I still hope for a decent autopilot for...

Chelton vs Avidyne by

I called an aviation supply house today. I'm told that you cannot get a
Garmin 1000 for any price, and that they do not intend to market to the
refit market. So the answer is .... no.
I'm told an Avidyne...

Chelton vs. Garmin - what am I missing? by
Jim Carter
Lots of chatter about Garmin's, but no one talks about the Chelton
avionics. Looking at TAP recently it seems the prices are very close to
the same for similarly equipped panels. I understand that Garmin appears
to be cheaper to piece meal together and that the Chelton appears to be
an all or...

Chelton's Direct-To division belly up. by

Somebody in the group was asking about Chelton the other day. This story ran
recently on AvWeb.
Direct-To Avionics has reportedly ceased operations as of late last month,
leaving potentially dozens of kitbuilders without equipment or immediate
support for experimental versions of the Chelton...
