Badwater Bill
There is a guy here in Vegas who has the best program in the country
for anyone who wants to become a commercial helicopter pilot. I'm not
sure about all the details but you can get a commercial and
instructor's certificate here with 100% financing at a something like
5% interest rate. You go to...

Cause of Huey blade sound by
Guy Alcala
Over on the rec.aviation.military forum a discussion got
around to the doppler effect and/or helo rotor blades, and
the following exchange took place:
------------------------------------------------------
if the air reaches M 1.0 going over the
thickest part of the airfoil, bang!. Whop,...

spin balancing a tail rotor by
Stuart & Kathryn Fields
We recently received an article for our magazine where the author performed
a balance of his tail rotor on a bench using an electric motor and a dial
indicator instead of an electronic balancer. I was impressed with his
thinking outside the box. If there is any interest in this out there, I...

Building a Gyrobee by
TM
Greetings, all.
I am new to this group, but I have been studying Gyros for a few years.
I've decided on building a Gyrobee. I'd love to build one from
scratch, doing my own cutting and drilling, not for the cost savings
but just because I'm an engineer at heart and love to build things.
The only...

How to hover by
Wannafly
Hello, what are the control inputs required in a hover in an ideal
situation, what I am trying to figure out is what are you doing in a
no-wind situation to hover.
I have read several articles and books about helicopter flying and I am
still a little confused as to what you have to do, from what I...

Expired helicopter parts. by
John
Recently I was watching "Monster Garage". The challenge on this
episode (37) was for the team to build a very fast car out of a jet
boat. During the build one of the team members spent six dollars and
some change for an expired helicopter piece. Since the part had been
expired it was apparently...

Quick Response Ambulance by
Ralph @ G-Squadron
Anyone think the idea of using an autogyro as a quick-response ambulance
service is good? Wouldn't actually transport patients, but would act like
the quick response car or bike, delivering emergency help, and looking after
patients until land ambulance arrives.
I'm going to see how far I can...

Sikorsky S-92 only 3.2 Billion by
Shiver Me Timbers
Well folks..... I'm a little surprised.
It's not everyday that a country orders 3.2 billion dollars worth of a
helicopter that theoretically is still on the drawing boards.
I would have thought that one of my fellow Canadians would have thrown
the subject out in this newsgroup.... but apparently...

..and another hour... by
hellothere.adelphia.net
Kevin, just remember, there are days that at times just putting it
down is a challenge. No real reason, it just happens. Just don't think
real hard about it as it will cause you to do it more.
There are times when my landings are so soft you do not even know you
are on the ground, and then the...

First flight in R-22... by
Filip Zawadiak
.... and I still can't stop smiling :-))
Flying helicopter is soo different from an airplane, it really felt
like flying magic carpet :-) And it's so nice to watch grass waves
around :-) In airplane you get from ground so fast it's hard to notice
how nice view you can have from so low...
