Corey Bird's Symmetry aircraft by
Stuart Fields
I just got a close up view of Corey Bird's Symmetry aircraft and it is hard
to believe that it has ever flown or even taxiied. To say it was clean is a
giant understatement. To say it should be hands down voted grand champion
at a concours d'elegance would be more like it. I have never seen...

Chugger's Projects by
[email protected]
To All:
As explained in the Introduction to the Chuggers-Alt Group (and in the
original chuggers Group), the contents of the Files Archive reflect
experiments using inexpensive materials obtained locally, most from
the typical 'box store' such as Home Depot or Lowes. The purpose of
the...

Notice: All Chuggers by
[email protected]
To All Chuggers:
If you can't weld, you'll have to learn how.
If you don't have your torches, regulators, hoses and table, you will
have to buy them... this isn't the sort of thing you want to borrow.
We've talked about this many times. The subject hasn't changed. You
need O/A. It is your...

Aviation Sheetmetal Work by
[email protected]
To All:
Guy calls, wants to buy my metal brake & sheet metal tools. Left
unsaid is WHY someone you don't even know would call you up out of the
blue and want to buy some tools which, in a couple of cases belonged
to my grandfather, my dad, and my brother.
The WHY? Because I've been diagnosed with...

Zen and the sticking RG-45 rod by
wright1902glider
It would seem that my last post drug out every old lurker that's ever
been on RAH (except Chuck... what's he up to these days?) Even BWB
sent me an unearthly vibe the other day.
But now that I have the torch, I've got a serious welding question.
Two actually. Number one is: anyone ever get...

24 Volt starter for Chevy V8 by
larry
I am entertaining the idea of using an LS3 series Chevy V8 on my
Seawind
project. I would prefer a 24 volt system-battery and starter because
it's a
20 ft. run one way from the battery to the engine. Also I've already
purchased fuel gages/probes and lighting/strobes for 24 volt. Does
anyone
know...

Antennas by
[email protected]
It's antenna-decision-time for my Europa kitplane; though I purchased
a couple of Bob Archer antennae w/ my kit, my sparse knowledge on the
subject (make that next to zero), has led me to reconsider the issue
as a blank slate. I'm thinking I'll be needing antennae for 2 coms, 1
nav, transponder,...

"Secret" Overvoltage Protection? by
Ron Wanttaja
I had an unusual experience last week, and figured I'd air it here for
some opinions.
My Fly Baby had developed charging problems again. I wasn't sure if it
was the generator or regulator, so I decided to do a bit of temporary
wiring to bypass the regulator (Generator armature to +12V, ground...

Glasair rescue possibility? by
danlj
While visiting a friend yesterday, I saw a Glasair sitting on the
ramp. My friend said that it is no longer being flown, and was given
to a now-defunct aviation school by the builder. Apparently it has a
blueprinted engine and was flown a good bit before this.
I am simply curious whether there's a...

Want to build a REAL engine? by
bildan
I've been kicking this idea around with some mechanical engineers for
a couple of years.
Motorcycle in-line fours are state of the art high performance engines
unencumbered by smog controls. They get more than 100HP per liter
with some at 140 HP/liter. Of course, they rev like a...

Rotax 912 questions by
RPar
Hi all.
I have recently completed my airplane and have begun taxi testing. For
an engine I chose the Rotax 912. I purchased the engine from a
Trade-A-Plane ad where it was advertised as being "new in the box".
When I inspected the engine prior to buying it did appear to be brand
new and was still...
