Airplane detailing? by
Jay Honeck
Another opinion, please:
What would you pay to have your plane "detailed"?
What, in your opinion, should be part of the "detailing"?
Thanks!

Ethanol Mandate for Iowa? by
Jay Honeck
Today Rep. Jim Nussle -- potentially the future governor of Iowa -- was
reported as proposing that all gasoline sold in Iowa be required to contain
20% ethanol additive. Presumably, this legislation, if passed, would make
the sale of regular unleaded gasoline illegal in Iowa.
See the story...

Electric Trim by
Jon Woellhaf
The recent comments about the difficulty of setting electric pitch trim in a
Cirrus made me wonder if any electric trim systems use a design where the
trim speed is proportional to switch deflection. Are they all single speed?

Do you ever use standby on your transponder? by
Maule Driver
I don't. It stays on 24/7 (you know what I mean). 1200 unless given a
code. It effectively prevents "Maule, check your transponder" unless
using the wrong code.
I make no attempt to turn it off or go to standby while taxiing or
anything else. I've never been asked to go to standby or...

Another thing I'm puzzled about: this time power settings and altitude. by
xerj
OK. These numbers are based on an extract from a power setting table for a
Lycoming 180HP :-
For 55% rated power with a FF of 7.4G/h at SL with an RPM of 2100, the MP
is 20.9.
For 55% rated power with a FF of 7.4G/h at 12,000 ft PA, again with an RPM
of 2100, the MP is 18.2.
I understand (and...

A remarkable pic of the Jet Blue nose gear... by
Jay Honeck
See:
http://www.alexisparkinn.com/photogallery/Videos/JB_Nosewheel.jpg
Airbus may not know how to make a landing gear mechanism that works
reliably, but they sure do know how to make it TOUGH. It's hard to
imagine the stresses on that gear as the wheels ground themselves into
oblivion...

Air Traffic Controllers by
Mr. Nobody
Hello,
I am a junior in high school and interested in a career in aviation. My
dad is a pilot and I always took an interest riding in single engine
airplanes flying across the country.
I am considering an air traffic controller for a future career. I heard
there is a shortage and the FAA is paying...

Link to B-777 upset? by
Capt.Doug
In the recent Airbus nose gear thread, someone posted a link to a report
about a B-777 fly-by-wire upset. I can't find it now and am asking if
someone can bring up the link to this report.
TIA,
D.
