Navy enlistment questions by
Atcrossroad
It's quite loser's story but, hell, I'll not fall lower by telling it.
I've made a big mistake in my life, namely, I've got a Ph.D. in
engineering from a second tier graduate program. Since graduation, I
had a string of sh*t pay, no benefits, long hours, dead-end postdocs

This got me thinking: is there any posibility that the Heritage Flight
could operate a F-14 Tomcat?
There...

Fallon Naval Air Station by
Austin Powers
I have some spare time and am interested in driving up to Fallon to see what
goes off up there.
Can anyone let me know what kind of flying takes place there and what (and
where) you can see? Any frequencies would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Vertical and Short Takeoff / Landing Fighters by
Aviation
My young nephew is convinced that the F-14 can land vertically, as
in drop straight down and land. As far as I can tell, that just
ain't so. From the right perspective, can it ever appear that an
F-14 is 'hovering' and 'dropping down' onto a carrier deck? (I
thought F-14 carrier landings would...

The Lincoln looks like a setting duck over there, other than radar and the
Cans what do they have going for them to prevent another USS Cole? Or is
that all they need?

GREEN CARD by
B.C. MALLAM
I held an instrument "green" card when I was in the Navy. I know you had to
have something like 2500 hours before you took the ride for it but can't
remember what else it was for. Anyone remember? Or is it still around.

COFFEE by

Back in the 60's someone had figured out how many gallons of coffee the Navy
consumed a day, I don't remember the number. Anyone have some idea?
