You guys were right -- thanks! by
Jay Honeck
Well, to those of you who told me "You should publish some of your posts"
over the years, I can only say a big "Thanks!"
I took your advice, submitted an article to one of the aviation mags (about
our flight into Dayton last spring), and -*voila*- I am now sitting on the
first $75.00 check that my...

The Sun is hot but the beer is cold in Iowa! by
vincent p. norris
The rest of you get your butts to Iowa, and enjoy a cookout with (*gasp*!)
FREE BEER
Jay, I'm tempted to fly all the way out there from PA just for the
free beer, but first, I want to know, what kind of beer are you
serving?
And is the a "designated pilot" there to fly me back?

month after 350 hours in my log book I was a ground pounder, but with
a new medical and couple of hours of ground school, 5 hours of

GPS vs. map by
DeltaDeltaDelta
Do you people with GPS units (either panel mounted or portable) use only
them when you fly, or do you plan the same route on a map as well and plot
your position in flight, for backup in case the unit looses pickup? I've
recently seen the SR-22 panel and some Lancair models and it got me
wondering...

Insurance Advice Request by
Robert M. Gary
Don't necessarily get replacement value for the aircraft you rent.
Like all decisions like this, this is a business decision on your
part. On one side the risk of lossing an asset, on the other the price
of the policy. In the 25 years my broker has been selling insurance no
insurance company has...

Beer Served to Pilots in Iowa -- All Survive! by
Jay Honeck
Normally I wouldn't post about our own party, but since no one in attendance
will be able to post until after Oshkosh, I thought I might post a little
round up for those who couldn't make it:
a) Many beers were served. In fact, we had to buy more beer mid-way through
the evening. No injuries...

Cherokee Carb Heat. by
Greg Esres
Is this just a technique or proper procedure?
All the Piper POH's I've seen say only use carb heat if you suspect
carb icing.

Help finding photo by
Chris W
I saw this photo of a military helicopter in a low. fast, steep turn
over a body of water that looked very cool. I thought I saved it, but
now I can't find it. I am hoping some one here can help.

Straight-in landing by
HankC
I'm 10 miles N of the field and the tower calls for a straight-in on runway 20.
What's the best way intercept the runway centerline?
Vaguely aiming for a point on the extended CL always seems too, well, vague...
Should I turn on base way out here and then a right turn onto the centerline?
fly a...

Technical aircraft schools???? by
Joe Peters
I am 19 years old. After I graduated hi-school, I went to work
full-time as a technician at a GM dealership. I never went to college
or anything like that, but I did complete a 2-year course during
school. I would say that I have learned an awful lot. I have aquired a
few certifications and have...

Bleeding brakes on Tripacer by
Corky Scott
I don't actually own a Tripacer but I do have the landing gear which
is being mounted on my homebuilt.
I was painting the landing gear and wheels last weekend, which
included sand blasting everything such as the backing plate. I had to
remove the brakes and wheel cylinder so that I could do a...
