5th year of living dangerously with LiFePo4 batteries by
jfitch
Got it at the beginning of the 2014 season, 12AH Starkpower. Last year I got the CBA battery tester. At the beginning of last year it tested at 11.908 AH (down to 11 V) at a 1.5A load. Just tested it again and got 11.820AH. My panel is drawing about 1.3A if I don't turn on the solar charger, so I'm...

6'7" and looking for a glider by
Rob[_10_]
I've been reading tall pilot threads here from a few years back, and I wanted to start a new thread. I'm 6'7" 230 lbs with a bit of a taller torso and I'm on the lookout for a glider. I've noticed that legroom isn't usually an issue, but with many gliders, closing the canopy is a problem.
I've...

60 Days for Calibration by
[email protected]
I was recently told that if a FR was out of calibration and you flew a
badge leg, you *now* had 60 days instead of 30 to get the calibration
done. If that is the case, could someone post a URL to the document? I
get a headache and nosebleed on the FAI site trying to find stuff, and
I could find no...

70 kg 31:1 glider is here to stay? by
Andre Volant
For soaring, this is it.
New racing class?
Why fly fast when you can fly slower.
What's a rush anyway?
Race slower, cover less ground, easier retrieve.
Stalls at 31.4 km/h

700 agl / 1 mile finish by
Evan Ludeman[_4_]
Man, what a pain in the ass at Mifflin.
Returning on the back side of Jacks with weak ridge and no thermals, you leave the ridge at 1900-2000 because you *cannot* get higher and fly through a ton of sink (netto 4 - 6 kts down is common). The closest point of the ridge to the edge of the finish...

70K ft altitude record by
Mark James Boyd
So what happened to the 70K+ altitude record? I sure hope it
gets submitted to IGC. In order to deny the claim, they'll have to
assert that the recorded GPS altitude has some validity.
Once that door is opened there's an excellent, forced study of
just how valid it is if it's used as the basis...

711 reporting by
[email protected]
http://711reporting.blogspot.com/ Information on AMT's new Titan UAV
88 lb thrust engine.
Also, seems to be alot of talk on the Club Class. Just my 2 cents,
Club class should have its own scoring, but can still be run within
the Sports Class Nationals, as their seeding scores will then come
from...
