Noise abatement by C J Campbell
It has been hot and dry here in the Seattle area for the past few weeks (believe it or not). We have been doing a lot of pattern work at Tacoma Narrows and have had plenty of opportunity to see Wollochet Bay filled with jet skis, water skiers, etc. No doubt these are the same people who...

Com noise by Hankal
Minor problem on my 2 com radios. If I have both (com 1 and com 2) on I have a squelch noise. If I place my hand on either radio the noise disappears. Most times I use Com 1 for transmitting and com 2 for ATIS listening. Any ideas? Hank N1441P

Mig-15 by Big John
This mornings 'rag' paper (Houston Chronicle) had an article headed: "PILOT CRASHES OLD MIG ON TAKEOFF" Pilot was flying to an Air Show at Bloomington, IN and stopped at Little Rock National Airport for fuel. On take-off lost power and was too far down R/W to stop, running off the end. quote

Garmin 430 question by MLenoch
Is there a time (Zulu or UTC) display in the Garmin? The thought occurred to me that the GPS derives data from a satellite based clock signal or such and thus, time ought to be available......so I think (!). Thx, VL

What about THIS for a GPS? by Jay Honeck
Would it be possible to use something like this: http://makeashorterlink.com/?P29521555 (This is a link to a thin LCD screen for sale on Ebay) ....hooked up to a GPS receiver? Is there a way to output a GPS moving map to something like this? The price is certainly attractive... And -- if it...

Question by Chris
I recently took a student pilot flying with me. He only has about 20 hours I was wondering if it's legal to let him take the controls being I'm only a private pilot. If so is there any possible way he could log this flight time we do together. I realize it can't be dual being I'm not...

Antidepressants and 3rd Class Medical by Tim Howell
Last I knew all antidepressants were immediately disqualifying for any class of medical certificate. Is this still the case? If a pilot has a current 3rd class medical, and then begins taking antidepressants, I assume his certificate immediately becomes void. What is the process for re-obtaining...

BFR dual with lapsed medical by Corrie
If your medical is lapsed (but in the works - waiting on paperwork), can you log dual with a CFI towards a BFR? You're not a student pilot, but you can't exercise the privs of your PPL because of the expired medical. Is the CFI considered the PIC, or are you? Or do the FARs consider you a...

Oshkosh Get Together Question(s) by Jay Honeck
Well, Ladies & Gentlemen, we are rapidly approaching the "Big One". Mary and I are planning to "host" (and I mean that in the loosest possible way -- bring your own chair and some good beer) a rec.aviation get-together at our campsite in the North Forty on one night during the week. Whoever...

Went to Iowa City by Viperdoc
Went to Iowa City today from the Milwaukee area- it was CAVU all the way. The FBO staff was very friendly and accommodating, and they let us use the crew car to go to the Mexican restaurant down the street, past Jay's establishment. The food was excellent and inexpensive. Didn't have time to stop...

Chuckles by Larry Dighera
There's a story about the military pilot calling for a priority landing, because his single-engine jet fighter was running "a bit peaked." Air Traffic Control told the fighter jock that he was number two, behind a B-52 that had one engine shut down. "Ah," the fighter pilot remarked, "The dreaded...

Toks Desalu wrote in message Can you believe this? I studied regulation back in college and don't remember any specific regulation that said the hand must be at control at all time. Anybody can point it out? Why they really want to make us look bad? The airplane was a DHC-6 Twin Otter...

About David Clark's legendary reputation for Customer Service by journeyman
....It's entirely well deserved. The cover for the battery compartment of my ANR headset disappeared recently, so this week I finally got around to calling their customer service 800# and spoke to a nice lady who has an apparently very well-stocked odds and ends drawer. The cover arrived in...

Seat height problem by Slav Inger
Alright, I gotta ask this, even if it brings a few chuckles out of y'all. I'm transitioning from PA-28-181 to a DA20-C1 (a stepping stone to the DA40) and having a bit of a problem seeing ahead. I'm relatively short (5'6.5") and I'm finding that the DA20 with its comfy recliner seats is more of a...
