do I have an ADF problem ? by
Dave Jacobowitz
Hey... have been flying instrument practice in the Bay
Area for the past couple of months and have been flying
NDB approaches without any trouble, but yesterday I
was setup for the OAK NDB 27R and could not get the
station. Needle didn't point and could not get the
identifier.
Tuning the ADF to...

Garmin/Avidyne OBS weirdness by
Ron Garret
I fly an SR22G2 with the Avidyne MFD. When I try to use the OBS mode on
the Garmin 430 in VLOC mode it works fine -- the left knob on the MFD
controls the OBS, it draws a nice purple line, and everything is hunky
dory. But when I try to use OBS in GPS mode the MFD doesn't work. I
can still...

New school in Seattle area by
Baha
I just wanted to inform Seattle area pilots about a new school that
started in Renton Municipal Airport. We are AcuWings, a family owned
business. The reason we started the school is because we felt the void
in Renton Airport for an alternative outfit.
We currently have a Piper Tomahawk that is a...

U.S. Government Lays Groundwork for Talmudic Courts by
Mighty Thor
U.S. Government Lays Groundwork for Talmudic Courts
US government under Presidents Reagan, Bush and Clinton, has
provided, under the euphemism of education (for example, House Joint
Resolution 173 and Public Law 102-14), a groundwork for the
establishment of Talmudic "courts of justice" to be...

Vacuum pump power source? by
Terence Wilson
Hello,
I was wondering how the primary vacuum is powered in a single engined
aircraft. If it was powered directly by the engine, a engine failure
would result in the immediate loss of attitude indicator and heading
indicator. So I guess most aircraft use an electrical pump that can be
driven by...

Vor kaput by
Hankal
On one of my $100.00 hamburger flights my VOR-Glideslope went in op.
Worked fine until I landed then at take of it would not register. I visually
checked the antenna, but every thing seemed to be OK. That afternoon I flew to
my avionics shop for a check up. Of course my plane is due for the 24...

eFlyBook by
Travis Marlatte
OK. Why haven't I seen any discussion of the coolest thing I saw announced
at Oshkosh? The eFlyBook from myairplane.com and ARINC.
Given the current price/technology ratio, it seems like the perfect
near-term solution to having electronic charts in a usable package.
Did anyone play with one?...

Wideband Antennas by
CHANGE USERNAME TO westes
Will a wideband aviation antenna, that receives across 50 MHz up to over
1000 Mhz, be useful for VHF and UHF TV reception as well as aviation
frequency reception?
Can such an antenna be used by multiple devices listening to different
frequencies at the same time?

Continuing past the MAP, KSUN, Hailey Idaho by
[email protected]
Opinions please:
Hailey Idaho, KSUN, daytime, ndb dme approach (circling only minima),
map is 5.3 nm back from threshhold, minima are 8000 ft (2681) and 5
miles, with "fly visual to airport" annotation.
1. Since 5.3 nm is just over 6 sm, is this not contrary to the FAR's,
in that you can fly...

preferred routing into Rhode Island by
Cary
I have flown into Rhode Island several times, and always file direct.
However, as I begin to approach the area (about 150 mi out) ATC gives
me ammended routing. My problem is that I am unfamiliar with the
navaids/airways in that part of the country and it adds a lot of
stress to the flight trying...

FAA going to crap by
BuzzBoy
I got a good friend who works for the FAA at a major airport.
He told me the experienced controllers and technicians are retiring and
leaving by the dozens and the only thing they are hiring are black
females and people who are basically unqualified and stupid. Now that's
scary. I never thought the...
