Rolling a Non Aerobat 150 by Tom Inglima
Spins have NEVER been in the private pilot PTS. The PTS (Practical Test Standard) only has been in existence for around 20 years or so. The last time spins were required for a Private Certificate was back in the early 1950's or maybe the late 1940's. Note that there is nothing that prevents...

AOPA Stall/Spin Study -- Stowell's Review (8,000 words) by Rich Stowell
All right! Can't a guy get away from civilization for a while, safely out of e-mail range, without the world falling apart? Ok, ok, maybe only that sliver of the world that cares about stalls and spins in light airplanes. I come home after nearly three weeks traversing the Pacific Northwest giving...

Me and couple buddies are considering buying a early 80's model 8KCAB but I am a little worried about doing sportsman level aerobatics in a plane that old. Not having owned a plane before I was wondering if anyone on the group have experience with older decathlons and how they hold up to that type...

How long are our re packs good for? by Viperdoc[_6_]
I saw in either Flying or AOPA Pilot that the FAA has passed the request so that our chute packs are now good for 180 and not 120 days. When does it take effect? Is my pack that just expired actually still good? TIA

Dumb question maybe re Stall Turn by Surreyrider
Need someone to settle an argument. I do not fly, so your answers need to be in laymans terms and hopefully put simply. I've occasionally watched aerobatic displays and seen a maneouver called a stall turn. Now, I more or less understand how this works, but there comes a point, just before the...

Legal to Rent Yak-52? by W[_3_]
Is it legal for a sport or commercial pilot in the US to rent a Yak-52 aerobatic plane for unassisted flight cross country? I guess these can only be certified currently for exhibition/airshow. Is that likely to change given they are still manufactured in Romania? -- W
