ASH-26E for sale by
5Z
s/n 26185 (2001) I love the ship, but an ASW-27 will better fit my
flying style, so a trade could be the best deal for both of us.

OLC Scoring for 2011 by
Mike the Strike
After Tucson Soaring Club's first decent cross-country flights of the
2011 OLC season, we noted a change to the scoring. This introduces
the category "OLC Plus" that combines the OLC Classic with 0.3 of the
FAI triangle score. The intent is to encourage cross-country triangle
flights rather than...

US Airspace and Airport Data Update by
2KA
Updated US airspace information for the charting cycle effective 23
September , 2010 is now (a little belatedly) available on my website
at http://www.soaringdata.info. Due to some technical difficulties,
it hasn't yet been posted on the airspace section of the Worldwide
Soaring Turnpoint...

Predecessor to the ETA - BIG ANCIENT self launcher by
Bob
Being a retired earth systems scientist, I try to keep up on whats in
the news, and do a lot of reading, especially when it is available on
the web. And, being involved in gliding (formerly in hang gliding) I
found a recent article in SCIENCE NEWS to be "interesting." Check
out:...

[USA] FAA approved canopy crack repairs by
Jim Britton
Our trusty Grob 103 is undergoing an 'extension of life" inspection
(AKA 6000 hour inspection)
One of the issues is with minor repairs to its front canopy.
We have one small crack starting from the right rail, less than 2
inches in length and well out of line of sight.
The plan was to do the usual...

Thermal Velocities by
JSoar
I have been test flying my new self-launching ultralight sailplane
design this fall, and it is going well. The Red Tail Hawk so far looks
like it has a glide ratio of around 21/1 at about 60 mph, which is at
the low end of the range of what was expected. But it has a minimum
sink of about 250 fpm...

windows 7, OLC and Cambridge by
Howard Banks
I am having a problem using the OLC convertor program that is supposed to
convert Cambridge files to a standard acceptable to OLC. It worked fine
on my now-dead XP laptop, but won't do anything on my new W7 machine.
Any suggestions?

Dave Nadler
I'm looking for a complete list of all USA competitions
for 2011, including those with tentative dates. Lots
of major upcoming meets are not listed on SSA site

Can anybody point me at this info ?

Wave Soaring video - Mt Washington by
T8
This is 'keychain cam" video, straight from the camera. In addition
to the annoying time stamp, the aspect ratio is wrong. For some
unfathomable reason, the camera shoots 640 x 480, 4:3 aspect ratio and
resamples to 720 x 480 which results in the squashed perspective (can
be fixed in editing, of...

Thermalling with Corn Stalks - CW or CCW? by
ContestID67[_2_]
All,
It is corn havest time here in the upper midwest. After pulling the
corn kernels off the cob, the harvestors grind up the left over corn
stalks and spray them out onto the field for mulch. The lighter corn
stalk leaves sometimes get sucked into thermals and I have seen them
at 7-8K AGL. ...

PowerFLARM Portable mount option by
DaleKramer
For those of you who have asked about mounting options for the
portable PowerFLARM, I have taken the time to make a 3-d model of an
idea I've had for a while and which should lend itself well to this
application.
It is described and rendered here http://www.FlarmFund.org/flarm_fund_002.htm
I hope...
