Landings in phase 1 of flight test by
Stanley
I am having some trouble finding the rules.
I have a friend that is ready for the DAR. When discussing the flight
test area, my friend was trying to include some local airports if
possible. The DAR responded that he would not be able to land there in
phase 1.
While I have seen that this type of...

BLAIR was a VISIONARY by
Charles Douglas Wehner
No - not Tony Blair.
I am talking about Eric Arthur Blair, who wrote under the name of
George Orwell.
He was a "Redcap" - a military policeman - in India. He was apalled at
the maltreatment of the Indian people. Clearly, he had noticed that
there were "Brothers" amongst the British "authorities"...

bleeding brake help by
Pintlar
Marchetti Sportster...
.. . . Are there any tricks to bleed the brakes on this homebuilt?
Four master cylinders, one on each pedal, running to two 'T's, where a
single tube continues to each wing. Thinking of using a vacumn pump, to
pull the fluid down to the caliper.
Also, can anyone...

Keys to flying in ground effect: by
durabol[_2_]
Keys to flying in ground effect:
-want sensitive control so can react quickly to "squirelyness"
-large stabilizer (perhaps a stabilator) and longish tail boom
-optimized control surfaces for good control at low speed
-best to fly only in low wind
-long tow rope to avoid turbulence of or crashing...

What's the best venue to sell used aircraft parts? by
Rob Bulaga
I have some slightly used aircraft parts; i.e. Airmaster hub, rotary
engines, etc. I'm sure there's an opinion or two out there on where's
the best place to list these items for homebuilders to find them. Ebay
is obvious, but doesn't really cater to this audience. Other
suggestions?

'A' or 'B' circuit generator? by
[email protected]
This is so embarrassing, I must just be getting old; I can't remember
if the generator in my '61 C-172 is an A or B circuit. Worse, I
forget which one is which. Does the 'A' supply controlled voltage
to the field and the 'B' does a controlled "ground out" of
voltage coming from the field or do I...

RAC grip (Formerly MAC) by

Has anyone got an appreciation of the RAC (formerly Menzimer Aircraft

switch model.
Don't know which one that is, but there's a lot of very bad human
factors that goes into stick grips with lots of switches.

stay with us who are on their way to the antique aircraft fly-in, held at

spent more money for the new one is it any more reliable that a

Military helmet, civilian radios - my solution by

I've read here that it's hard to get a blanket
'one size fits all' solution to adapting
military helmets to civilian radios. I
spent about 15 minutes on the phone with
'Flight Suits' (www.flightsuits.com) answering
their questions about what I have and what I
wanted to do with it. A small box of...

Wittman tailwind by
Harry O
From memory, the differences were slight. The wing airfoil was different.
The W-10 has a curve on the bottom where the W-8 was flat. I understand
that there were 2 or 3 inches of extra width in the fuselage. Also, the
W-10 was stressed for larger (Lycoming) engines. I built the airframe for...
