Windshield replacement by
Jim Burns
When we purchased our Aztec, one of the things that we promised to
update/upgrade/replace was the two piece windshield with a new 1/4" one
piece. This will raise our compass up and move our OAT gauge to the pilot's
side window.
Well, today it came and is sitting in my computer room. I've got the...

Anyone have this? by
Frode Berg
https://www.surecheck.net/avionics/features.html
I'm considering it.
Used to have the first generation TPAS, and it saved my butt a few times on
long X-country trips.
I just thought the altitude info would be really a great addition! Does it
work as advertised?
Less false warnings than the early...

Left Coast Mogas (Ping! Jim Weir) by
Darrel Toepfer
Gleaned from the CPA ATIS 8.24:
THE PRICE OF MOGAS IN CALIFORNIA. . .
I've been touring California for the past week and was amazed to find
Mogas in Modesto for $2.29/gal. I'm told it's the only place in
California you can get it.

Tiedown "winch" device by
City Dweller
Hi all,
When trying to tie down my new Diamond at our airport, I discovered
that the ropes on my parking spot are too short and I can't even make
two decent knots.
I remember seeing an interesting tie-down device the other day,
something like a hand-operated winch which allows you to tie-up...

Log books in the plane on a long trip? by
[email protected]
I'm going on a 2 week cross country with my plane and had a thought
that if I need any work done during the trip I should have my logs with
me.
I normally keep them at home but maybe being far from home like this I
should have them with me. I like them safe at home, but I think this
situation has...

New GPS from Honeywell/Bendix-King in the works by
Jim Burns
Another post has raised my curiosity about the availabity of GPSS converters
to provide pseudo roll steering inputs to our S-Tec 60-2 autopilot via our
KLN 94 GPS and a converter.
Long story short, at this time we're out of luck. The KLN 94 GPS outputs a
RS232 signal that isn't tagged correctly...

Engine doesn't make minimum static rpm by
Bob Fry
Aircoupe Alon A2 with C90 engine with two props, one 48" pitch and the
other 52". It doesn't make the static runup RPM minimums with either
one, for instance the 48" prop should be 2225 to 2325 rpm, I averaged
out to 2162 rpm. Likewise the 52" prop falls short 100 rpm or more.
Three years ago...

TCAS like options by

Hi all,
I had a close call last week while flying traffic.
I am now looking at portable traffic warning systems. I looked through
the back articles of Aviation COnsumer and could only find a review on
one. the Sure Check....
What else is available and anyone have any experience with...

I've decided to buy a T210. Advice is welcom by
john szpara
In a previous thread (could have been as much as a year ago), I
proposed getting a twin as my first airplane. I wanted a Cessna 421,
but wiser and more experienced people talked me out of it. After a
long period of thinking and research, I've decided to get a Cessna
T210. I have some time in type,...

Loaner Radios by
RST Engineering
I have a couple of radios that are excess to my current needs, but I really
don't want to sell them. It's the old "Why didn't I keep those around. Now
I've got to buy new ones" syndrome. Here's the list (all 12 volt only):
Microair 760 (760 COM)
Narco Com 11A (360 COM)
Genave A-200 (180 COM,...

Oxygen above 20,000 feet by
O. Sami Saydjari
I seem to recall that my portable 02 system said something about not
being about to go above 20,000 feet with it. This does not present a
problem with my Turbo Arrow since that represents its service ceiling.
Now, I am contemplating a Cessna Turbo 310 R and I am wondering whether
the 02 will be...

A Rec.Aviation FRS Channel @ Oshkosh this year? by
Bob Chilcoat
IIRC, last year someone (Jim Weir?) designated a Rec.Aviation FRS channel so
that everyone could find each other more easily. My brothers and I plan on
being there this year. Did it work out and was it any help last year? Are
there plans for repeating such a thing this year. If so, what...
