Wildcat on the Ronald Reagan by
Charles Talleyrand
Suppose someone tried to land an F4F Wildcat on a modern American
aircraft carrier. We'll give the carrier a few hours to prepare, and lets assume
the carrier is at sea and moving.
Can a WWII fighter land on a modern carrier? Can it get back in the air?
-Much Thanks

Captain Eric 'Winkle' Brown by
Ramsman
On BBC4 tonight at 22:00 BST: Britain's Greatest Pilot: The
Extraordinary Story of Captain Winkle Brown. Overall a very interesting
programme, despite the occasional incorrect picture.
An amazing man, who has flown more types of aircraft and made more
carrier landings than anyone else. I met him...

Why not a Quad Tiltrotor Pusher-Puller? by
Blair Maynard
I haven't looked much into the future design of the quad tiltrotor, if
anybody else has, please post any info you can. But a quadtiltrotor
seems to be a promising project. I presume the engines in front and
rear would be standard forward-facing props and I guess they would be
offset so that the...

Where will the money come from... by
s.p.i.
To pay for the envisioned force structure below? Well the seemingly
inviolate 12 carrier hull money is most likely one place. With what
is being proposed why would you need 12 carriers anyway?
Maybe its time to begin to transform Naval Aviation away from being so
completely centered around a...

F-14 with the Playboy bunny logo? by

A few months ago Playboy magazine had a picture of an all-black F-14 with
the bunny logo.
I thought this logo had been banned from Navy aircraft after the Tailhook
scandal. Does anybody know any details?
