3rd Class Med and Anti-depressants by
Don Martin
Greetings:
I take an anti-depresant (LexaPro) and I know that FAA won't allow it.
Personally, I have no problem saying "FO" to the FAA (damn
bureaucrats).
Anyhow, can anyone tell me if current 3rd class exams do a drug test
of any kind (blood, unrine)? If they don't I have no problem
falsifying...

3rd Class Medical by
Slez via AviationKB.com
Hi! I am new to this particular forum, but have been visiting one of the
others in the network for some time. I'm looking for opinions on my 3rd
Class Medical status.
My last physical was in 2005, and given that you need to renew it every 3
years, I am due in 2008. I turn 40 in September of...

3rd Class Medical - Jump Through Hoops? by
GEG
I'm a student pilot. I went for my first medical today.
There were 3 issues.
1 regarding Lasik - which he had a form to fill out from my
opthamologist. Fine.
The second regarded a prescription for Bextra, which I use
for occasional "flare ups" on my hip (I'm only 37 but have
some hip troubles from...

3rd Class Medical in Florida Question… by
Bob
I recently started by Private Pilot training in Daytona Beach and love
it. I actually never thought I would do as well as I'm doing and my
instructor is hounding me about getting my medical as he things I
should be read to solo very soon.
First I'll admit it, I HATE DOCTORS!… What all is...

3rd class medical now expires in 60 months ? by
sid
Today I was informed by my medical examiner that the “Medical
Certificate” for 3rd class now expires after 60 months as opposed to
36 months for pilots under the age of 40 years at the time of
issuance.
I am trying to finish my VFR, but my student certificate expires after
24 months.
The examiner...

3V5 Ft. Collins Downtown potentially closing by
Louis L. Perley III
I myself haven't used the airport much, but it sure was nice to do some
practice on the relatively small runway, at least compared to what I was
used to at KBJC and KFNL at the time. It's a nice little airport, and in the
summer, with taller buildings on either end of the runway, makes for...

4 weeks until Wings Over Houston! by
Ricky
In 4 weeks I will attend an airshow I've never been to; "Wings Over
Houston." Show is going on in spite of Ike, which was a concern.
The main reason is to experience the most hardcore, insane aerobatics
I've ever seen, Sean D. Tucker. Follow links to a 13 minute, full
performance video here if...

H. Adam Stevens
Greetings
On May 1, 1967 I flew my last pre-solo dual.
I soloed on May 2, at 10 hours, in Cessna N8624J, a brand new 150, the first
student to solo in it.
The rent was $7/hr wet.
Cheers
H.

400 Chicago Flights cancelled by
Jay Honeck

Nothing like freezing rain to throw a wrench in the gears. I'm
familiar with the normal chaos of O'Hare -- I simply can't imagine
what it's like with 400 cancelled flights. You couldn't pay...

406 Beacon Reviews by
Helen Woods
Anyone seen any good written reviews of the various 406 EPIRBs and PLBs
currently on the market?
What about exeperience? Looking for something small enough to keep on
one's person but that would have decent battery life in cold water.
Needs to be waterproof too.

421C down in Washington State by
Bob Gardner
Non-instrument-rated pilot and his 421C are down in the vicinity of Carson,
WA. Last reported at 11000 (?). The mind boggles. Weather is not too swift
in the Seattle area...dunno the condx down there.

430 install price by
Robert M. Gary
I got semi-quoted the following (more specific quote will come later
and I[m sure will be a bit more)
unit $5800
indicator $1450
labor $4500
XM receiver $3600 + labor (optional)
This is in a Mooney to replace a MX-170B (which I"m told is the same
size so no need to move other radios around).

480 vs 430/G1000 by
Robert M. Gary
As a CFI I have a good amount of experience with the G1000 and 430
systems so I thought I ought to sit down with the 480 and try it out.
Partly because I may buy one, but partly because there is a good chance
as a Mooney CFI I will run into a student with such a unit. I guess I
was pretty shocked...

4800nm trip complete! by

Hey all,
Like it says on Jays site I'm trying to land at all 50 states by age 40.
A few days ago I finished a 4,800nm trip that leaves me with just
4 to go. Logged 44.6 hours and 32 touch&go's/landings, maybe
you've been to or are familiar with some of them:

496 beats G1000... by
Dan Luke[_2_]
....in at least five ways that I've found so far:
o The 496 allows extensive customizing of displayed data fields. The G1000
is very limited in this respect.
o The 496 automatically records each flight's origin, destination, time
and distance. The G1000 lacks this feature.
o The...
