RANS S-9 Chaos loses a wing by Jim Logajan
Video of wing failure via AVweb: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4a8cntPdRtk RANS S-9 loses a wing in an airshow doing aerobatics; pilot survives because plane is equipped with BRS and promptly deployed. Natural to wonder whether some earlier stunt actually partially cracked the spar.

Glass Cockpit Architecture by Douglas Eagleson
Glass Cockpit Architecture by: Douglas Eagleson 2010 A proper glass window cockpit display is a hard system to design. Fault tolerance become the primary issue. A display of engine and flight controls as a primary visual information panel becomes a central control computer. I have considered...

Best gas welding rig for 4130? by Gerry van Dyk
I'll add another cudo for the Midget, it's wonderful to work with. I also have the chinese copy of a Victor medium duty torch kit. (same as Harbor freight sells) I'm using the regulators, but the torch is all but untouched. There may be some use for it when welding clusters where 8 or 9 tubes...

O200 reassembly by Philippe[_4_]
hello, I will begin the engine final assembly. I read I need to begin with the 3 dowel screws and the front two 7/16 through studs and low rear3/8 stud. I don't find the tight order after that. I guess it is better to tight all the stud nuts on big machined washer before the...

open design practices and homebuilts. by [email protected]
I googled "open source aircraft" today, and got quite a few hits. It appears that open source practices and hard-engineering (engineering that ultimately transcends from digital into physical, unlike software) are still pretty far apart from each other. There are several sites that refer to...

Powered paragliding, paramotoring? by John Doe[_4_]
Anybody try building one? Seems to me that it would be about the easiest project for homebuilt aviation, to build a backpack cage with a motor and propeller. Powered paragliding looks outrageous. They should fix the problem of the pilot being slung/slammed into the ground at low altitudes....
