Question For Any Flight Surgeons Out There... by
Zomby Woof[_3_]
What might be a medical condition related to one's heart that could be
discovered that would make you ineligible to continue flight
training...something like irregular heartbeat, etc.
This is a bit of research for a literary project I'm working on...thanks in
advance...

U. S. Navy websites - where did they go? by
William Hughes
Both chinfo.navy.mil and history.navy.mil appear to be offline; I keep getting
DNS errors when I try to access them. Did the Navy change their URLs?

Marine Corps officials said Wednesday that they have no intention of

Crash loads by
Chris
Does anyone know what specification the Navy uses to define proper
crash loading of structures in the cargo bay of the aircraft? I know
the numbers 16G's forward, 20G's down, etc., but I'm assuming this is
formally documented in a military or civilian standard. I'm not
having much luck finding it.

SLAM-ER by

SLAM-ER
Boeing recently conducted a successful flight test of the Navy's
extremely accurate Standoff Land Attack Missile-Expanded Response,
known by the appropriate acronym, SLAM-ER. The test was against a
simulated Iranian Shahab-3 mobile missile and a Russian-made SA-10 air
defense missile....

Interception of Backfire near Norway, early 1980s? by
DDAY
I remember seeing photos from the early 1980s (82 or 83) of a Soviet
Backfire-C intercepted by Norwegian F-16s. The Backfire had two
roles--attacking US aircraft carriers and medium range strategic bombing.
This was the first public release of photos of the Backfire-C by the West
and it may have...

L-188 and P-3 by
Mike
Why was the Lockheed Electra L-188 selected by the U. S. Navy for its
Orion P-3? What modifications did it undergo to become the Orion P-3?
Would there be any federal documents from that era that might be
relevant? The contract was awarded in 1959. The first delivery was in
1962.
Thanks.

What do you think of Boeing MMA? Does it really have a future? Or is it
likely that the whole project will be cancelled in the near future in favour
of a P-3C refurbishment program (re-winging, engine overhauls and structure
program)?
A lot of rumours are currently going around on this subject and...
