Any winter flying in Switzerland? by
Nick
I'll be working in Zürich during January and February (maybe March too) and
I am wondering if it is possible to get a few flights in a glider somewhere?
Are there any clubs that fly more or less regularly during the winter, and
accept guest members?
With all those nice mountains, it should be...

Blended wing bodies and sailplanes...? by
Robert Bates
Watched a few shows on Discovery Wings this weekend that were discussing the
superior lift and handling of a blended wing body (BWB) design over a flying
wing and traditional wing/fuselage design. Superior lift? Hmmm...
Does anyone know of a BWB sailplane out there, or any research on one? ...

Old Contest Letters by
Mhudson126
I know this has been visited before, but it did not concern me, as I had no
glass airplane to adhere a set of letters too. As it stands, I am trying to
remove some painted on contest letters from both the wing and tail. I know
Acetone does the trick...But any suggested methods to apply it would...

Spectra winch rope by
Bob Johnson
Don't overlook the advantages afforded by the incredible lightness of
this new type of rope. Mass and ground friction of comparable towline
diameters are reduced a whopping 80 percent. Ground run distances for
heavy two-placers are thus reduced 25 percent and the ship gets into the
air in 2.5...

Winch problem by
Lach and JoAnn Ohman
We recently re-commissioned a winch that had been operated successfully
for years using armored tow-target cable. That being difficult to find
these days, we are using regular stranded cable and are having trouble with
the cable piling up at the center (width-wise)of the drum, then slipping off
to...

More Spectra Winch Rope by

How could I have forgotten the swivel? You won't need one -- the
untwistiness of this woven rope is legion!

With this episode completed, the cartoon is finally ready to start telling
stories of the travails of sailplane pilots, and particularly Pez, who have

Belt slipping fix? by
Stewart Kissel
I like to snug my belts after I settle into the cockpit,
so I cannot
set them to a permanent position. Does someone have
a techn-
ique to prevent slipping. And yes I am aware of a
life-span on
some belts.

Refinishing: Who has tried a shortcut? by
Ian Forbes
Hello All
There has been quite a bit on refinishing on RAS recently. Most people
advocate that when gel-coat starts cracking up, it is essential to remove
it ALL.
Does anybody out their own a ship which was refinished without removing all
the gel-coat? What is the service history of these...

Nextel paint finish for cockpits by
Simon Waddell
I'm having my glider refinished and the workshop is recommending Nextel
paint for the cockpit. This paint has kind of a soft feel to it. I think
it's used in K21 cockpits and, in black, it's sometimes used for the cover
over the instrument panel since it doesn't reflect light.
Does anyone have...

Newbie seeking glider purchase advice -- II by
Ted Wagner
Thanks to everyone for the informative feedback.
I did forget to mention my experience level, and it seems to be relevant to
the question. Assuming I've made no errors in my Excel electronic logbook, I
have 137 flights and 35 hrs as of this afternoon, 93 and 23:30 of them solo;
78 in a 2-33A, 18...

WX Block, NU Finish, Rain-X by
TomnKeyLargo
I have a 2 year old fiberglass top Cobra trailer. When new, I applied WX block,
and used NU finish every 6 months. Half the year it is under cover. Needless
to say the top is weather worn, and the factory gloss is no longer. This
weathering has happen within these 2 years. I believe, since what I...
