Flying to Canada in a club airplane by
Andrew Sarangan
If the pilot is not the owner of the airplane, AOPA's website recommends
carrying a notarized letter from the owner or club authorizing the flight.
Everyone I spoke to has never heard of this requirement. Since a club
member is actually a part owner, is the letter still necessary? I...

High And Low by
SelwayKid
Prompted by a low flying question I thought I'd ask the board the
highest or lowest airport you've flown into/out of.
I've got about 12000 hrs in the lowest reaches of the airspace system
doing crop dusting worldwide, and utility work with helicopters in
same areas. BTW, a couple of those airports...

Cirrus for Duats by

I've been using Cirrus for DUATS over my cable modem for years. My drive
crashed recently and I reinstalled the program. Now I can't get it to
aurtomatically log in and get the weather info I ask for. It just comes to
the prompt and asks for my name. From there I have to type...

Newsgroup Porn Posts - Ideas on how to stop? by
Cockpit Colin
Unless it's just my imagination are we all of a sudden getting a lot more
porn postings in this (and other groups)?
Has anyone found any effective tools that stop it getting displayed at our
end?
Cheers,
CC

See and Avoid applies to both IFR and VFR by
Brad Z
After the cold front passed last night, my instrument student and I took off
VFR from FCI, about 11 miles from Richmond Intl (just outside of Class C).
We had just departed 33, climbing though 1200MSL when I spotted traffic in
the distance to the west. On this particular evening, Potomac approach...

TFRs and ADIZ: The Final Solution by
C J Campbell
Ernie Fletcher nearly got himself shot down when he penetrated the DC ADIZ
with a busted transponder. Can you imagine what would have resulted from
such an event? It could well have been the end of the Bush administration.
So, I have a modest (ahem) proposal.
Democrats! Here is your chance to so...

Jump plane CG by
Roger Long
I was watching skydiving operations for the first time this week. The first
three jumpers climbed into the 182 and it rocked back on the tail tiedown
ring. The next two got in and it came down on the nose gear, barely. There
appeared to be an attachment to the tie down ring to turn it into a...

Question on Owner Produced Interior parts by
NW_PILOT
I was reading on http://150cessna.tripod.com about owner
manufactured parts. I was wondering if I could make my own interior
parts? For example change plastic parts to aluminum, or titanium
such as the plastic instrument bezels, mike holder ECT.
I have access to a really nice machine shop, CNC...

Different Aerial Imagery/Patrol jobs? by
TooPlaneCrazy7
Hi guys,
I am in the IT field and am finding out that I hate it more and more everyday.
I do not want to be working in front of a computer for the rest of my life. I
started my business and I guess I am doing okay, but I'm 23 years old and want
to fly or do something with airplanes. I keep finding...

Warrior 1234 do you have the traffic in sight? by
Magnus
Er....no.
Just read an article about a blinc guy in england who's going to fly
around in a modified warrior. Apparently the system uses audio to
translate what the instruments show.
Good thing he has a safetypilot however, since he can't see traffic for
example. Maybe it's the wave of the future,...

A different strikefinder question by

Seeing the thread on how strikefinders work was interesting to me
because my wife and
I had just been discussing strikefinders last week. We were doing the
Disney thing in Orlando
(buying our 9-year-old son's everlasting devotion), and we got to
wondering how far the
various strikes we were seeing...

Hi all,
I don't know if it was a rerun and has been thoroughly done over here,
but last nights episode of The Mythbusters 'busted' the explosive
decompression myth surrounding bullet holes in aircraft.
The guys sealed up a junked out cabin, pressurized it, then fired 9mm
bullets through first the...
