Fuel Drip Containment by
Sven
Hi Jim,
I have seen people hang an empty plastic oil bottle on the fuel vent to
catch the dripping fuel on Cessnas. Have you tried this? It shouldn't be too
much of a fire hazard and will save your hangar floor. Just make sure that
you drain the bottle regularly because the angle it sits on the...

I'm building a Zenith 601XL and have started to consider a Corvair

Drywall Gussets by
Veeduber
It's all about strength to weight.
Feathers aren't very strong. But then, birds aren't very heavy.
Fabric is stronger than feathers, except for the quill. Even cotton fabric.
Or resin-coated paper. And wood makes pretty good quill-stuff. Or even grass.
Bamboo is grass.
One of the tricky bits...

NACA duct ventrui by
Chris W
Here is why I was asking about the reverse NACA duct. I am thinking
that a simple venturi would be a great backup to an engine driven pump.
Naturally no one wants to add the drag that bolting a venturi tube on
the side of the plane would give. So I was trying to think of a way to
make it...

Engine Oil Analysis help, please by

I did my first oil change, had an oil analysis done and got back the
results. Two figures were flagged: 20ppm for AL and 99ppm for Iron
with the following comments: Wear Metals Appear Slightly High for Oil
Time, and Possible Corrosion if Aircraft Not Flown Regularly. It
concluded with the...

I need to clean them up. They're corroded on the outside from the salt
air, but they work. Anybody know of resources? I know how to take them
apart and put them back together with an exploded view from the parts
manual, have done it before, but don't want to harm the bearing races...

Velocity builder mailing list/web board ? by

I've been researching the Cozy and Velocity. There is no scarcity of
often meticulous and detailed Cozy buider websites and at least two web
boards.
On the other hand there seems to be a dearth of Velocity pages. I have
found three semi active pages. One had a list of the sites for 9...

Yo! Fuel Tank! by
Veeduber
Riveted aluminum fuel tanks are smart. They're easy to build and superbly
practical for the homebuilder since she can make them in whatever shape she
needs.
Most folks shy away from this fabrication technique due to the high cost of
Pro-Seal, still listed at more than $8/oz in the Aircraft Spruce...
